perhaps they should do with Vinny what the Kings did with Richie. - wilsonecho91
But he has a NMC. Didn't Richie only have a NTC? |

hahahah isn't that the truth. I think it's a fair statement to say that the nation of flyers fans are a bit distressed (especially the ones that attend hockeybuzz conversations everyday)

Edmonton Oilers under Todd Nelson, with Ben Scrivens and Viktor Fasth as their goaltenders and Taylor Hall injured except for the last game: 9-9-2
Philadelphia Flyers in their last 20 games, with Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek in the Top 12 in scoring and Steve Mason in their primes, with Mason having an elite season: 6-7-7
I don't throw pity parties, Chief. The math tells you that in the last 20 games, the Edmonton Oilers have one more point than the home team -- with worse goaltending and an interim coach
Tell me again why the Flyers future is better than theirs, again?
I'm all ears - AllInForFlyers
For the record, I actually get what you are saying. We all automatically believe the Flyers would be one heck of a desirable position for a coach to land. That doesn't make it necessarily true. It didn't make it true for Suter or Parisi either.

Lecavalier's NMC would prevent the Flyers from demoting him. Richards movement clauses were voided when the Flyers traded him.

Saying that the Flyers would be a heck of a desirable position for a coach to land, is not the same as saying that would be the case for every coach, or every player. |

The Flyers have a far better financial situation than all but the top few teams in the NFL.
They have a good core group, and the financial wherewithal to get rid of some of the bad deals that hamper them. They have good young prospects in Laughton, Leier, Cousins, Sanheim, Morin, Hagg and Gostisbehere.
The Flyers have never been a team that doesn't try to win-even in bad seasons they're trying to win. It's appealing to a prospective coach that that mindset is in place, especially a guy like Tippett who has coached for a team that lacks the financial resources of the Flyers.
There's also none of the ineptitude that teams like Edmonton, Buffalo and others have shown for long stretches of time. Despite the current issues the Flyers face, they are an organization that shows they have the desire and will to win. - Jsaquella
I don't know what I've missed today but I'd love to get Babcock but I'd also would love to get Dave Tippet just as much. Many might not like to hear this but I would go after John Tortorella before I settle with Dan Bylsma. My only real issues with Torts is expecting players to shot block. I don't believe players should go out of their way to do so. With this said, Brad Richards signed with the Rangers to play for him and Richards saw some of his better years as a young player. Del Zotto and Lecavalier both saw their best years under him. Last I believe Torts will hold everyone on this team accountable whether its ripping them during a media presser or in the middle of a game. He'll also defend his players and hand them credit if they deserve it. I loved his comments when Sean Avery was sent to the minors for the second time in New York. The only people holding Avery back was Avery himself. The only thing we didn't like of John Tortorella was what we saw when he was Coaching for the enemy. |

Are you sure that's right? Didn't Richards only have an NTC, which hadn't kicked in, which was why they were able to move him?

Regardless of which type of clauses Richards had in his contract, they were voided when he was traded.

Yes, I think a clarification is in order. I think the Flyers would be an attractive place for a coach. But I don't think we should assume that our first choice, whoever that might be, wouldn't be happy in Edmonton or any of the other cities All In named.
The point that we are in that much of a better position to contend sooner than those clubs, given the current roster and system is not necessarily true, which I think was his original point. |

Which was voided upon the trade to LA. VLC has his intact as we signed him that way as a UFA. We're franked. |
