Some team that Vinny would waive for should accept a trade, void the clause, then trade him right back...
Then the Flyers could bury him |

Lecavalier's NMC would prevent the Flyers from demoting him. Richards movement clauses were voided when the Flyers traded him. - MJL
Yes, that was my point. |

Regardless of which type of clauses Richards had in his contract, they were voided when he was traded. - MJL
Um, I don't know about that one -- I think Richards' NTC is still in effect. He didn't have a full NMC, which is how he got demoted, but wasn't he moved under the terms of his old contract? |

Which was voided upon the trade to LA. VLC has his intact as we signed him that way as a UFA. We're franked. - Pixote Andolini
How would the clause be voided if he never played under the contract that was signed with the clause in it?

Edmonton Oilers under Todd Nelson, with Ben Scrivens and Viktor Fasth as their goaltenders and Taylor Hall injured except for the last game: 9-9-2
Philadelphia Flyers in their last 20 games, with Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek in the Top 12 in scoring and Steve Mason in their primes, with Mason having an elite season: 6-7-7
I don't throw pity parties, Chief. The math tells you that in the last 20 games, the Edmonton Oilers have one more point than the home team -- with worse goaltending and an interim coach
Tell me again why the Flyers future is better than theirs, again?
I'm all ears - AllInForFlyers
Flyers have better players including a 1C, a top 5 winger, and a top 10 goalie who are all in their mid-20s, more money to spend, and are a more attractive destination for free agents.

The only way a movement clause stays intact when a player is traded, is if the player makes that a condition of waiving his movement clause and accepting a trade. Since Richards movement clauses had not kicked in yet when the Flyers dealt him, he did not have the ability to make that a part of the condition of the trade. He had no say whatsoever.

That's incorrect. Richards played 3 seasons with the Flyers under his current contract.

And that's what I was asking -- I wasn't sure which contract he got moved under. I thought it was the old one; I stand corrected.

The clause is an accord confined to the signing team and player. |

It was back then, and like I posted earlier, there are conditions under which a player can retain those clauses when traded. The rule for when movement clauses kick in, has since been changed.

Richards was not eligible until year 4 or 5 of his contract, under the old CBA, for a no trade or no move clause. His trade to LA came before it was in effect, and was negated by the trade, which is why LA could send him to the AHL. Same goes for Carter. He wasn't eligible for his NTC to kick in, which is why he couldn't block the deal to Columbus.
Under the new CBA, there's no delay. If a guy gets a NTC or NMC it's in effect immediately. I believe that a player has to be eligible for UFA status to get a movement clause |

I need to stop following the Flyers on Facebook. I just saw a string of posts that said to "trade G cause he's useless and name Jake Captain" as well as keep Berube because "who is even out there that's better?"
I don't doubt that these people actually watch some games but the stupidity of this fanbase sometimes... |

Something has to come to a head with Umberger and Lecavalier. 2 and 3 years respectively of the garbage we saw this year is too much. Paying a premium for replacement level production can cripple a team. By hook, or crook these guys have to be gone. Can't sell them to anyone being on this roster next year. Same goes for Berube. If he's not fired on 4/12, I'm gonna go apepoop. - PLindbergh31

New rules for movement clauses.
No Move/No Trade Clauses
No Move/No Trade Clauses that are negotiated as part of a contract extension
may become effective immediately upon execution of, but prior to the effectiveness of, the extension contract,
provided:
a) The Player is otherwise currently eligible to have a No Move/No Trade Clause, and
b) The Club with whom the contract extension is entered into agrees to make the No Move/No Trade Clause effective immediately upon execution of the extension contract |
