One thing that shocked me, well maybe not a shock but a I guess a little surprised at, was that Berube wasn't lt go after the terrible 4 game trip. Not just because of the team losing but with all the other story lines like the handling of goalies and if he lost the locker room, I thought with them being off till Wednesday it would have been the perfect time. I think it would have allowed the team to finish out the season without all the other storylines. Also maybe hextall can put his foot down with whoever finished out the season and made sure goalies rotated or even shut mason down.

I just thought it might have taken some pressure of the team to finish out the season.

and replace him with who?

He isnt gonna be back, but no point to firing him with a few weeks left.

It would make zero sense to fire the coach now in my opinion. There's what 9 games left? The stories, or should I say drama is really only coming from one source, and other media sources are piggy backing on it. That one source is not exactly reliable. When a team is losing, and has a bad season, that generates this kind of nonsense. I honestly believe this entire story line with Mason is massively overblown. Things written by one beat writer become fact, while statements by those who are actually there, such as Ron Hextall, who said there is a lot of inaccuracies being reported, gets swept under the rug. If there was a medical reason to shut Mason down, Hextall would do it. He's in charge. If Hextall thought his head coach was abusing the team's top goaltender, he would put a stop to it, and do something.

Open it up to a "make-a-wish" kid or something. You'd be doing something good for charity, and you have nothing to lose anyway.

And how could the league not allow that?

Literally anyone.

Gord Murphy. Lappy. Hexy himself. Sigorney from Xfinity. The guy who gets his last name put on a #69 jersey. The guy that actually agreed to stitch that.

I saw a chick with a #69 Bukkake jersey on at a Flyers game a couple years ago. Classy broad, just as expected.

I like Ek's blog. "Give Mike Richards some credit". For.... underachieving, being demoted and playing hard enough to get called back up? Shouldn't players always be in good condition and play hard? Not sure what there is to give credit for, unless he was battling his way back from an injury or something.

I'm for trading BSchenn in the right deal but man, it has to be a pick above 25.

I agree. A 2nd rounder is not enough.

Haha...I gave you guys the play. Move Schenn plus our first for the 3rd or 4th pick overall and a 2nd.

The team that acquires him gets Schenn, who has higher upside still than a 2nd rounder, plus another strong player at 7 or 8.

We get a player with higher upside that Schenn or what we would have at 7 or 8, plus a player with lower upside than Schenn.

As long as it's a 2015 top-40 pick, I wouldn't hang up the phone right away. I'm sure somebody awesome like Konecny will drop into the 2nd this year.

It definitely would be.

I look at it like this, pit has an elite center and a generational center in malkin and Crosby. They're in cap hell from having to pay both of them.

The flyers would be in the same boat with g being an elite center and mcdavid being a generational talent. I'd keep g for a year or two or 3 to tutor mcdavid. When he's ready to take over the 1c position, that's when I would trade g.

Probably not the most popular opinion I'll admit, but I feel it's the best use of the available assets.

I think you do one of two things:

a) keep G, McDavid and Couturier down the middle, and trade Schenn and maybe even Laughton for wings and d help. The downside is you still have to wait for the young D to develop and pray one is a franchise #1.

b) trade G. Here is a package. Assuming Arizona picks 3rd overall, trade G to Arizona for their 1st, chicago's first, and Duclair. Maybe a high pick next year too.

Then draft Hanifin, a high-end offensive center (Barzal, Zacha), and Bittner/Sprong etc on the wing. I'd trade something to get up to get one of those centers.

Arizona gets a franchise center in his prime. We a franchise D and three high-end offensive talents, for example Duclair, Barzal and Sprong.

Next year might be a step back, but in 2 or 3 years we'd be really really good.

Now this is where I draw the line. Any person with so little class could never be a winner anywhere. If he could make such a poor decision, I wouldn't be surprised if he put Giroux in net and scratched Voracek.

People thought Hagg was a bit of a steal at 41 two years ago because he had been talked about as a first rounder. I think he still has potential, but I wouldn't want to trade a 23 year old, 40 point center/wing like BSchenn for a prospect like that.

BSchenn should only be traded be a first rounder, or for a young left winger already in the NHL even if we have to add something to make that happen.

Emotionally, I agree. He's my favorite player since Lindros. But assuming Arizona would even take that package, man we'd be set up. Think about a defense 3 years from now with Sanheim/Hanifin, Ghost/Morin, Hagg/???. It probably wouldn't look like that because you'd have some vets thrown in.

On offense, you'd have something like this

Duclair - McDavid - Vorachek
Bittner - Barzal - Aube-Kubel
Raffl/Lindblom - Couturier - Simmonds

Or other prospects for Schenn/Laughton/Read.

Yes me too. But I have to admit the thought isn't off the table and automatically dismissed like it may have been two years ago. It would have to be a serious return to even consider, but I would consider it.

Like a high first round pick, an NHL ready young, top 2 all situations d-man, and an NHL ready top six forward to START. Something along those lines.
