Its not so much him as the depth we already have and the very real chance we draft a high end Center in this draft too.

If we draft Marner, Barzal, Zacha etc then Coots will soon find himself as the 3rd C.

well, coots knowing his role as a 3C, and being great at it, isnt the worst thing in the world.

its only an issue that he isnt that 25 goal scoring second line center or whatever, when you dont have one.

although those kids you listed will still probably take 2 or 3 years to be able to lock down 2C duties anyway, right?

I think Marner might start on the wing in the NHL anyway.

I'm not sour on him, I just don't see his upside as being as great as Couturier's or Schenn's. Also, when we drafted him, to me this is the problem with drafting the "best player available". Was he really??

im not saying schenns a washout. he has value. and i think he is a 20 goal guy in this league.

but especially this season, he has such huge stretches where he is virtually invisible.

laughton, although he really didnt produce a lot of tangible results, seemed to always have some zip, even while playing with crappy linemates at times.

i dont know. right now, yeah schenn is the more valuable guy. but its hard for me to immediately say that his upside is necessarily higher than laughtons.
