For all we know, the fix has been in for a decade or so
Now they can really be creative with the fix since more teams are in the mix - homiedclown
Yeah it really needs work. |

it was brought up either earlier this week or late last week that LA is strapped for next year and offer sheeting Jones 3.5 and Toffoli 5.5 per (9 mil total) puts LA in a spot to choose between the two or let them both walk. I'm not sure trading is needed to get what you want...it may come down to money which we have and several teams do not... - hammatoe
They would match toffoli for that |

I love the idea of backing LA into a corner for these two. In order to do this Murray would have to do one at a time. Compensation for the Toffoli Contract would be Buffalo's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in 16. Jones' would be 1st and 3rd in 16. Trading with LA for one of them is the better option I think. |

i am not all that excited about Jones for a 1st and 3rd.. i like Toffoli but it would take more than that to get him..
i think there are better cheaper options than a 1st and 3rd for a goalie. |

This in the comments pretty much sums up why he would touch on it:
While we are talking ethics, let's talk about the media. The underlying goal of media is to draw and retain readers/listeners/viewers. Media manipulates stories and editorials to sell news instead of reporting facts so that the audience can make a decision. Many times not reporting an opinion of what they feel is right -- instead, what will make more of an impact with the audience. An entire industry is spent digging emotion out of the audience by falsely broadcasting their "idea" not to educate, strictly because it will attract an audience. To me, that is unethical. - ImThatGuy
In this case in particular -not that I disagree in general--Mike is a columnist. They're paid for their opinions. |

I don't like the Jones idea as RFA offer. Too many other options to do this.
LA is in Cap trouble and 5.5 to 6.7mil is the same compensation of 1,2,3 in 16. I think an offer of 5.5-6mil for Toffoli might be too much for LA to match. |

and when you move him up to the top line, is he going to be another staff or is he going to be a legit first line winger
tough call but I would go a different direction |

"@WGR550 I hope the Sabres win tonight so I can hear those 2 non Buffalo born residents whine and or stroke out on air tomorrow morning."
Yet the man-love for McEichel will be strong from the "I hate the tank!" folks. |

people want it both ways.. i don't see what is so difficult to see about this.
i have turned myself off for this season.. i watch every game. I used to be apathetic towards win or lose. but i recently find myself irritated when buffalo scores.. i really hope they get last locked up so i can cheer for a victory in Columbus when i am at the game |

I heard it discussed (I think by Travis Yost but don't quote me on that) and was not immediately sure about the #s when I heard it but now that I look you can adjust the #'s to 3 for Jones and 5 for Toffoli...this would be a 1st, 2nd & 3rd for both but only a 2nd for Jones should LA match on Toffoli. I would do a 2nd for Jones...

Here's the thing that worries me most about tonight's game...
The Crowd.
If the majority of Sabres fans are going to be openly (and loudly) cheering for the Phoenix Glendale Arizona Coyotes. What is that going to do to the psyche of this team (and coach)?
One of Teddy's strong-suits is his ability to motivate. I can't think of a more motivating way than to be pissed about your home crowd loudly cheering for the opposing team in your building (more-so than any other game this year - due to the obvious ramifications). And the players? They can easily look at the situation and let pride/anger/motivation take over and play their azzes off.
Or...
The players think, "eff this, I'm ready to start thinking about tee times and vacation spots in the Caribbean" - and lose 5-2 tonight |

I haven't watched a full game in months, I haven't watched any part of a game in a couple weeks I think, and I don't intend on changing that the rest of this season.
I know the gameplan but can't watch the mess.
No Nolan/No Tank in 15/16 is going to be refreshing. |

I was answering the original post of someone asking about offer sheeting Jones and Toffoli. It could be done but trading might be easier.
I think you are right and Murray will go another way. 3 picks is tough to give up. I really think it will be someone along the lines of Sharp or Erickson.

the product on the ice for the past 17 months makes me care less about psyche
they should be embarrassed to be last in the nhl on almost all stats, instead they fire 3 shots on goal in the third period |
