This only proves that Corsi doesn't indicate the ability to generate wins or losses That metric doesn't tell a story that indicates anything of value except that the other team shoots more than the Sabres. WGAF.
Hey Arizaona, you got a great Corsi number but you still can't win! - RynoBull
What it indicates is that even though the Coyotes have a worse roster, their possession is leagues better than the Sabres. Possession can be coached to a certain extent, clearly proof by the above graph of crappy teams, and Nolan can't coach it. |

I have no doubt that there are aspects of Nolan as a coach that come in handy. He seems to relate to the players differently, but I don't know that he should ever actually be a head coach. Assistant would probably work but definitely not head coach. |

The issue isn't wanting what's best for the franchise.
The issue is disrespecting the individuals and the effort they put forth. In a way, it's even worse than booing somebody. - Der Kaiser

Did you folks listen to Howard's rant?
http://media.wgr550.com/a...es-it-over-tbn-column.htm
It's awesome and it's pretty spot on. Save your WGR jokes because personally I don't GAF. The rant is worth a listen. - TheSabresTaco
Wow how can he say those things about Bucky Gleason. That guy is a sports genius and everything he writes is pure gold. How is he not on ESPN or some big broadcasting network. You know why cause he's a franking moron and it amazes me that that people even buy newspapers anymore. The buffalo news is full of dolts top to bottom. |

I just got done writing an e-mail to the director of HR in regards to an issue he's having with a request from the head honcho of this whole place...and now I'm about to avoid any and all calls/emails so I can listen to it. |

"The general manager should be doing what’s best for the team. If the team is going nowhere, you plan for the future. Regier talked about creating a new foundation starting with the Gaustad trade. Regier didn’t know how to properly guide his team to the bottom and, thus, increase its chances for the top pick overall." - Bucky Gleason, June 23, 2013
"For me, it has always been simple. Every team in every league in every game should be doing whatever it can to win every day. That’s what sports are about. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the first game or the last. If there’s a scoreboard involved, the objective is winning. That goes for management, coaches and players.
No exceptions." - Bucky Gleason, March 27, 2015 |

Best take I have seen so far, seeming to understand all of the perspectives. Front office is doing its job as it has to; players are enduring a lot of poop; and fans are reacting understandably:
Weber's frustration is entirely understandable: players don't tank, front offices do. Both the Sabres and Coyotes have moved every valuable asset, and they would have been criminal not to. Between that and the fans actively rooting for you to lose, it's been a poopty stretch for the players.
But it's extremely unfair to knock the fans. It's not wrong to root for their team to lose, not when they're functionally rooting for the Sabres to get better in the immediate future. This isn't aimless incompetence. This is tanking with a purpose: the best draft prizes in a decade are right there, the sort of players who could turn around the moribund fortunes of two hapless teams. And if you miss out on them? A few more years where meaningless late-March victories over fellow standings bottom-feeders are the best you can hope for.

Again, I have no problem rotting for them to lose.
If you do it openly at the arena, you better expect the players to be pissed off about it. That is the ultimate slap in the face for them. You are supposed to have the advantage playing at home.
The feeling I'm getting is fans are aloud to do whatever they want, because they don't make millions. But the players need to shut up and deal because they do?
(Unless I completely missed your point) which is possible. - ImThatGuy
Your pretty close. If you look at what the fans had to cheer about over the season..
Stanley cup ?..nope
Conference champion? ..nope
Division champion?.nope
Pres trophy?...
Playoffs?.. Ha
Allstar? .. had to be voted in by another country
Goals?.. nope , lowest of all the teams (so cheer for any goal)
30th place and the chance at 1st/2nd pick ?.. Good chance thats all we have this season.
Thats all these fans have to cheer about. |

I really don't like the sports writers for TBN. Sometimes they will pull up a cool statistic but I feel that their "expertise" is very limited. |

Apparently WGR brought up Bucky's column from 2013 and a link has been posted in the comments section for Bucky's column from today. There's some good reading in Bucky's comment section today. Obviously Bucky doesn't research his old columns to make sure there are no contradictions. |

I was back in college in 2005 so I don't really recall the hype for Crosby and Ryan as it was happening. Clearly I had better things to do. My question to you guys who followed the process, was there similar hype surrounding both Crosby and Ryan, or was it Crosby or bust? |
