exactly, thats what gets me the most. IMO we has just as bad of a team last season. Yes we had a few better players but its not like we iced the best team possible. |

They started off last season with Miller, Vanek, Ott and Ehrhoff though. Hodgson wasn't a complete mess. And that's just what I remember off the top of my head.
At the beginning of the year last year, the team should have been much better than they were. That's the difference. By the end of the season, you're correct. It's not much different than now. But at the start of the year it was much different. |

I like what he's been doing. I think he deserves an NHL shot. If Murray doesn't see him in the plans going forward though, they should trade him this offseason. His value may never be higher. |

From my point of view Larsson falls into the same pot as the possibility of bringing back Gringo, or even Stewart: what money will it take and where does he fit? |

here. foligno, girgensons, and larsson would be a nice third line going forward. yes, he would score more with more talented players, but he would be a good two way player on a potentially very good third line. |

the team as a whole has been under achieving since July 1st 2007 IMO
aside from 1 great half season from Miller, it's been a wreck waiting to happen |

They absolutely have been. That doesn't mean that the team should have been better earlier in the season last year though. For the most part, Miller not being here hasn't really had too much of an effect on us. For whatever reason, the goaltending always seems to be sufficient enough. But the group as a whole should have been at least halfway decent to start the year last year. Instead they looked like they didn't even belong in the AHL. |

Carried from last post:
The integrity folks don't recognize that Buffalo's players are playing with all the integrity they have, doing their best to win night in and night out.
And the GM is doing exactly what he should be doing - doing his best to ensure the longterm success of the franchise.
The reason that last night was so uncomfortable for me is because we have finally reached the tipping point of the entire season: we are getting very near to cementing what the franchise has set out to do for the last 20 months, and we always knew it would be "suffering" and we always knew it was unnatural in sports. And it's going to stare us in the face until we've gone ahead and done it.
And then, hopefully, we can get back to what all of us would far prefer to do, root for a winning successful team we really really like. - Der Kaiser

Well, Grigorenko and Larsson are RFAs. I doubt very much that Murray doesn't qualify them, so they'll be in the organization to start training camp at the very least (barring any trades). I don't see either one of them getting huge raises, so the money part isn't an issue for them either, IMO.
Not sure we need a guy like Stewart for next year. I haven't done a "projected lineup" as that's not really my thing. But I don't think they need a guy like him, especially not at the cost that would probably be associated. |

so if it ended up looking like:
moulson-eichel-kane
ennis-reinhart-o'reilly
foligno-girgensons-larsson
deslauriers-dont know-dont care
id be pretty happy. ristolainen takes another step, gorges and bogosian take up valuable minutes, and whoever is left from mccabe, pysyk, and zadorov take minutes away from weber- we should be much happier campers. |

the team fundamentals has been pathetic aside from a few good individual plays here and there over the last 8 years
started out the gate bad more often then not
not sure if it's pride, coaching, talent
my guess is it was a team that spoiled up catching lightning in a bottle and the lack of leadership at the top bled out slowly
now it's time to purge the have nots this off season and truly turn the page on this mess |

it works if you grab 2 studs this off season in FA's
moulson needs to drop a line
gionta will be on the third line so larsson probably drops to the 4th line, not a bad thing
squeeze in a st louis or jagr and then......... |
