I agree, but there have been too many times this season when our (frank)tard of a coach openly talks sh!t on some of the young guys in interviews, let alone the fact that they absolutely refused to call up our better prospects in place of injured players so as to keep them from a "losing environment" only to have Rochester be out of the playoff picture pretty much by the end of November. I don't care about Gorges' feelings or having "veteran presence", Pysyk, Grigorenko, Larsson should have all been up here to start the year. I'd argue they have even less wins and you get more NHL experience out of them. But what do I know.
I also think they need to slap the C on Girgensons next year and demote that bum Brian Goateeonta to unemployed. - DynamicThreads
Not a shot at you directly, but a lot of people considered Larsson and Pysyk to be underwhelming prospects. Larsson in particular.
Sometimes players just aren't ready
People hate Nolan which is fine, but if you look at Larsson, he's getting ice time now because he fixed what Nolan said he needed to during his first stint here this season. He's skating better, getting involved and he's seized the opportunity with Girgs out |

He's getting ice time now because the Sabres have no choice but to give it to him. They have nobody to replace him with. The only thing different in his game right now than it was earlier in the year is that he's playing with guys that at least make an excuse for competence. If Stewart, Mitchell and Flynn are all still here, Larsson is still in the doghouse. |

With Larsson showing the ability to play regular minutes. Is it possible he starts as a top 6 center next season?
Reinhart and McEichel are all natural centers but I can see them spending a 1/2 to a whole season at wing like Seguin or Mackinnon did |

That's not true and Hodgson is an example. If he played well....ever he would have been bumped up numerous times.
Larsson was far from bad earlier this season, but he's also a different player as well. And yes the players around him contribute to that. But do you not remember the incompetence offensively displayed by Larsson to start the season (or his season) ? |

I get what you're saying but this organization acts like you can't fix your play during an NHL schedule, which is absurd.
I don't hate Nolan, in fact I like him. Just think he is clueless and a (frank)tard stuck in 90s hockey.

I remember Larsson playing with 2 guys that can barely skate and the Sabres making the laughable assumption that it was somehow his fault.
Even Hodgson is getting more ice time than he had been earlier. This is about the fact that they depleted their NHL roster and nothing more. |

You can fix your play at the NHL level I agree, but Murray is the guy making the roster moves.
I sort of agree with what he did with Pysyk though. I think Pysyk needed 22+ minutes per game in the AHL. |

Well of course he wouldn't be on line 1 without Girgensons getting hurt. And again, Tim Murray makes the roster moves, not Nolan. So he must have been in Murray's doghouse as well |

Also, didn't Larsson play with Kaleta and Delauriers? Those 2 have issues, but skating isn't one of them |

Which is why I said "the Sabres" and not "Nolan".
Larsson basically said in that D&C article a while back: "play me with guys that can skate, and I can show you what I can do". Once that Sabres finally did that, he started to play well. |

And if Mark Pysyk, Grigorenko, Joel Armia, and others didn't get handed NHL jobs with competent line mates, then why did Larsson feel he should have been?
Larsson was fine defensively, and clueless offensively when he was here. They wanted him to work through it in the AHL, and give him the opportunity to translate his game here when there was room for him here. |

Here's the thing, though. It's not "handing" them jobs. It's putting them in the best positions to succeed, which is what the great teams do. Darcy Regier's staff seemed to be terrible at it, and Murray's regime seems to struggle with as well. It's not just Larsson. It boggles my mind how you take any player you hope will develop offensively, bury him on a 4th line, and then turn around and wonder why the guy isn't producing. It simply violates common sense. |

Kaleta's issue isn't skating? Idk about that. I'd say it's actually why he never became a player who can pot 10-15 goals a season and still play the role he plays. Deslauriers we will see, but he's a heavy body out there and makes Kaleta expendable.

I see him on the third line with girgens and foligno or gionta
I really thing the kids will be split up if we get a competent head coach for next season |

I agree to an extent. Hockey is situational. On this team, guys like Larsson or Grigorenko, or even a defensemen like Pysyk need to be developed properly. They aren't studs like Ristolainen or Girgensons. Keeping them in the AHL is better than throwing them into the middle of this mess and having them try to look competent.
Only way they will is if they are around the few talented players we have. Unfortunately there wasn't room for them. |

Kaleta is a very fast skater. It's everything else involving skill that he struggles with |
