That's just some gutless poop. Seriously at least face the dude head on. Reminds me of the person we all know who starts poop but never actually gets into the fight, and throws a sucker punch when someone isn't looking.

I wouldn't count too much on Brady Skjei making much impact. Having a skilled young forward like Kreider skate around and play 0 defense but catching the other team with a few goals is one thing, having a rookie never playing a single pro game in his life step in and play defense against the most skilled players in the world is another thing entirely. You can cheat as a forward (as Kreider unconsciously did in 2012 because he didn't know better) but you can't cheat as a defenseman. You are either fundamentally sound or you are a liability...and its not easy when you've never defended against the NHL pace and skill level.
If we absolutely needed to add a dman to our 6, I would be more comfortable with McIlrath and tell him to play a 1 way game in our own end period. |

He wouldn't play over any of the top 6 dmen anyway. I think they want him to play the end of the season in Hartford and maybe be a taxi squad player to get some playoff experience. |

Personally, I'm banking on Skjei to win the Conn Smythe. If we have any chance of winning the Cup, it's solely because of Skjei. |

what does it say about how the organization views McIlrath when they had 3 lefties in the lineup (McD, Staal and Yandle) and they still those chose to bring up another lefty in Summers in what seemingly was a perfect spot to play McIlrath a game considering he would have give the team 3 leftys and 3 rightys on the blueline. |

The Rangers called up Summers over McIlrath strictly because Summers looks like Klein. It has nothing to do with skill or talent, because McIlrath clearly trumps every defenseman in the AHL in those regards.

*sigh*...such a sore topic...I think we just gotta look to keep filing that #6 & 7 with free agents for next few seasons until some other kids come around. Gotta lock up Yandle so we at least have a solid top 4 long term. Boyle has gotta go...like yesterday... The guy is just too proud to say the game is just above him now. |

Klein's injury is forcing Boyle into a role that he shouldn't be in, the other right handed shot on the blueline during a penalty kill.
Which illustrates even further what the organization must think about not bringing up McIlrath yesterday. Especially with a neandrathal like Tom Wilson in the lineup. |

Obviously a moot point, but god I think Sather's biggest mistake in recent years is paying using the same cap space on Boyle rather than Strals. I can't imagine how much better (as if we weren't great already) we could have been if we have Stralman's possession and solid all around defensive game this year. Our powerplay still sucks with Boyle so no fix there. Having basically 2 Kleins would have made our defense absolutely nasty. Anyway to somehow fix the bad feelings and get him back? |

I honestly don't think Boyle has been that bad. He might turn the puck over once or twice a game, but he has been steady recently. |

I would LOVE to have Wilson on the rangers. Dont think hes a neanderthal at all. Think he is a fantastic combination of size toughness and skill. Guys like Sestito, Rinaldo, Jansen, those are more in the neanderthal category. But I get your point and to answer your question, it means they view Mcilrath isnt ready and more likely than not, think he wont be ready anytime soon. He is a bust, nothing more to say about him |

Problem with Boyle is, he looks completely unsteady to me. Watching him play, its like he struggles to make the simple easy play. Once in while, his natural ability will bust out and he'll make a great play but thats like 1 in every 20 plays on the puck. The rest of the time, its a nervous crap shoot if he's gonna execute or wait to long and get pressured and lose the puck. Or my biggest fear, he's sooo terrible going back to his own goal line to retrieve possession. Gets beat 9 out of 10 times when its a physical battle or footrace to get to the puck along the boards. Like he's churning his legs in quicksand. Makes me question his actual puck intelligence. A guy like Stralman isn't the strongest, isn't the fastest, isn't the greatest puck handler, he's just simply intelligent. He understands what a simple pivot can do to create space. Stalman knows how to skate the puck a few feet in a certain direction and it leads to team possession. Boyle just creates too much danger with his puck management... |

Stralman is gone though, he isn't coming back. Boyle is the teams number 6 dman. When you look around the league, there are a lot worse number 6 men out there |

Well, he's number 5...but I get you. My original gripe was simply his cap hit versus what we are getting. It just boggles my mind how he is such a shadow of his former self this year. And much of it is puck management. Gotta play smarter when you don't have the speed anymore. Look at Hayes, not the strongest, not the fastest, his biggest attributes are his reach and his intelligence. I look at Hayes and every pass he makes, every shot he takes, you see him make subtle adjustments of just a few inches to change the angle. He makes lateral passes that normal guys would turnover because he'll drag the puck simply a few inches back and boom, creates an open lane. He gets pressured all the time because he's not fast, but compensates with subtle smart puck management plays. Boyle needs to stop forcing and fighting it...needs to learn to play smarter now that he's older. |
