We already have a younger, better O'Reilly in Girgensons. Why sell the farm for a redundancy?

If they could swing a trade for Kessel who Toronto is desperate to unload and lure Justin Williams in FA you could be looking at:

Reinhart plays a year in Rochester then likely takes over 2nd line. Gives you three actual right wingers as well instead of lefties on the right side. We havent dumped all of our assets.

Not sure where Foligno and Grigs fit in there though, Moulson really ends up being in the way. Hodgson we can give away.

MacK, Barrie, Johnson, and ROR all would need new contracts after the 2015-16 Season. Johnson probably will get an extension this summer, and Barrie Mack are both RFAs, probably not a major concern right now so mack could do a bridge deal. Avs have done that with Varly, Barrie, Dutch, and tried to do that with ROR, so I won't be shocked with a MacK Bridge. Barrie is going to get paid though.

What are you hoping for ROR? Seems like he wants more than the team is willing to pay. You want them to pay him his price or maximize his value in trade?

Instead of ROR I would look to trade zadorov and Gringo to Edmonton if they end up with the 4th pick. Sure strome or marner wouldn't be bad on their roster but they are looking for players NOW not guys ready in a couple years. Zadorov gives them a young NHL ready defenseman which they want and gringo gives them a coward from the loss they get from not drafting #4. We get a young high upside prospect to play with Reinhart or mcheichel. We use our 2nd first rd pick to draft a defenseman for the loss of zadorov. No worries on RORs huge contract then

I'd much rather wait until he's a free agent, and if he never gets there, so be it.

they only pick 3rd if us or Arizona win lottery. Hard not to say zadorov isn't NHL ready when he's played in a the NHL almost the whole year and not looked out of place

4 year at 6.6m is fair for him. His agent isn't dumb, they knew that was the offer the Avs gave Stastny to stay but he ended up taking the St Louis 7m deal instead. Hard for the Avs to say we want to pay you dramatically less than Stastny since ROR is a very comparable but younger player than he is.

Ultimately I don't think he leaves the Avs, Hes been a rock in the Top 6 and the chemistry he has with Landy and Mack is amazing (Roy on his radio show said he sees ROR as a 1B Centre on the team and thinks Mack needs to stay on the wing for a while longer)

Moving ROR just breaks up all that chemistry and they will be in the same mess again next season trying to build chemistry in their Top 6.

I don't see him leaving eirher, especially for Buffalo unless the return blows away your management.

As a GM, I wouldn't trade you anything that would impress you considering his impending free agency and his current pay rate.

Cliche answer is, GMs dont always have times to let things play out. Always a pressure to win "now". And I think with the average fan, after the past 2 seasons, they will want it sooner

If it's true that Lemieux was pissed off about the ELC offer and said he wouldn't sign with us then what are you gonna do? I really didn't want to see him go either though. Armia is a big question mark. I had hopes for him, but even though it's still early with him in the Peg it doesn't seeming like he's thriving too well in their system either. What really chaps my A$$ is the 1st in this deep draft, that pick is like pure gold. I will be really upset if Winnipeg finds the next Corey Perry with that pick. And if Murray trades the NYI pick in a ROR package I'll puke my guts out for a month.

The point is that there is no need to rush Grigorenko out the door, or the other 1st round pick. Our best player will be 18, plan for 2 years down the road. Don't jump to trade more picks and prospects to make a run next year.

Who cares if Grigo busts? Let him do that here then, Murray has no problem burning through assets like they are monopoly pieces, so what's the rush to get something for him.
