I have no problem with the play. I would also have had no problem had it been called a penalty (and notice in the video the ref was looking right at the hit, and called nothing). I would further have no problem if Doan is suspended.

Yeah, but I don't know how you legislate that out of the game. Just like when boarding crackdowns resulted in players turning into the boards, and hooking crackdowns resulted in players diving, players will find a way to exploit the "late hit" if a similar directive is issued to the officials one of these years.

The way I see it is that there is "playing tough" and "being reckless" and this one is the latter. I understand you gotta be hard on the puck and play the body and do what it takes to win puck battles but if there's no puck battle then you are just being a jerk

I like diving when done properly. I don't like refs calling hooks AND dives.

I'll take skilled cheaters over goons any day.
