They may have the horses but after you give what it would take to get McDavid the barn will be empty.
On the other side of the coin if they finish last and still win the lottery they would have to call PHNX to see what they might offer to swap.

So the kid's going to be the next Crosby, last time I looked Crosby only has one ring on his hand in 10 seasons, and he plays with another superstar on his team. Murray sure inquire on what it would take to move up to #1 but when he finds out the price he should just stick with Eichel. We'll be stacked with quality at center and defense we'll win a cup eventually with this new crop of talent, don't go selling the farm and mortgaging the future on one guy. It only takes one head shot for a career to be ended, do you want to pay 3 1st rd, Girgensons, Risto, and Eichel on a risk like that?

I should say no but I honestly don't mind it. Still leaves us with McDavid,Girgensons,Larsson down the middle and keeps our d-core in tact.

P.S wouldn't surprise me if the devils won the lottery. Something about where they are in the standings. I think a team in that range is going win it.

I hope that conversation/interview has been taken out of context which I very much think it has because if our G.M is that way focused it would be very, very bad.

As good as McDavid or Eichel are they might be the "face" or a "cornerstone" of a franchise but if the rest of the roster is crap and there is no system and no support players going to go very bad. I sure hope his plan is better than "Get him" and my job is done.

I am 90% he plan is better than that.

Eichel, reinhart, ristolainen, and next years first would certainly get the ball rolling, but theres no way i would want him to do that. I think you draft eichel and dont look back. Even if we get marginally better, next years first could be a lottery pick with the new rules, and ristolainen and reinhart dont have a replacement anywhere in the system.

The reason why I offered that without taking Girgenson or Risto or Zadorov is because that deal is reasonable for McDavid(I would might even ask for the 2018 1st) and it would be in the Devils best interest to make that deal because of the lack of talent with our forward prospects. We got a lot of bottom 6 guys, just need top 6 guys. They would have 6 picks in the top 60 with NJ's and FLA's 2nds and there are plenty of good forwards in the second round.
