That may or may not be true. But what is true is we will have failed miserably. Everything we will have tried to accomplish under Pegula will be a rank embarrassment. It undermines my confidence that they can take the 3rd best player and turn in into a cup team just based on history. They need ALL the help they can get. - Buffalo-Sabres
What history? The kings have won cups recently with the biggest drafted player being a defenseman that was second overall. Whose the biggest drafted player on the bruins? |

Those who made a scene Thursday cheering Az like it was a playoff game may just end up being the Steve Bartman's of buffalo sports. Great job guys! That was funny stuff! |

This. And what's their plan when we don't get a generational talent? Return to the practice of shaming fans by throwing Harbor Center in our faces? You know, the building we didn't ask for. - Buffalo-Sabres
How about we let the GM build the team?
Last time I checked, we're poised to have one of the best bluelines in the league in a couple years.
We have a deep goalie prospect pool and/or a GM willing to go get a good goalie.
We have Reinhart, Kane, Ennis, Girgensons, Grigorenko, Fasching (who they have been raving about), Compher, Baptiste, Bailey, Hurley, Possler...
And if, God forbid, we don't get McEichel, we can probably add Strome to that list.
Then there are trades to be made.
Why is it "my life as a Sabres fan is over" if we don't get one of these two? |

Does that mean that we are going to be suddenly like the LA Kings and win a cup with bunch of no-names??
Come on, we need one of these 2 players.

Stop. Don't you know there is only one way to win the Cup? It's impossible to win picking 2nd and 3rd in consecutive years. |

OK
Let's kid each other, and pray and hope someone will rise up, like the last 42 years??? right????
Again, we need one of these 2 players.
THAT IS IT!!! |

Ducks got getzlaf and Perry (yes later) in the deepest draft in NHL history. That draft was an anonomly. They both had top 5 talent. Along with printer on the team, one of best defenseman ever. We don't have any of those guys. Strome or Reinhart are good but Prob arent getzlaf or perry.

A few of us understand a couple things:
- not picking top 2 is definitely a blow to the plan
- the plan can still work because we have already hit on draft picks over the last 3 years and can trade assets for a top line player. Or just pick 3rd overall, where Toews was drafted. |

And, again, unless you have your crystal ball all dialed in, you don't know that.

Okay. He's seguin then. Now we just have to find a Bergeron, krejki (sp?) and a chara. That will be easy

And you are me best case scenario. What if all our picks don't turn out. You don't know that either. All these rainbow and lollipop guys. You can't assume best case scenario on everyone of our guys either |

I don't mean to come across harsh.
But, reality is that I have seen this team going through so much forever.
This is our chance of getting players that will change our fortune.
Beside that, I am all good. |

It's incredible to me that there are "fans" on here who are burying our prospects before they've even played here

I swear people are more broken up about this than the Carolina ECF. And the crazy thing is, even if we finish 29th there is still a 33.5% chance of a top 2. |

You're right, but....
McDavid/Eichel are so much better than Strome or Marner
It really is a big deal
And what if Murray takes Hanifin?
People's heads will explode
