The yotes with mcdavid or Echiel???? they will be better than us if they get him and we don't. Look at this years standings we are FIFTEEN points out of even 5th last place. We win 8 more games next year a THIRTY THREE percent increase and we still suck. Those that think we will just all of a sudden be dramatically better without mcheichel while two teams will improve by getting them are delusional

Leafs and NJ are only 2 teams I can think of

They have a few very good prospects to come up.. Max Domi will be a very good NHler a lot better than bo freaking horvat

Plus Duclair, but their defense and goaltending are suspect in my opinion.

In a scenario we don't get mcheicel:

Yotes :will add mcheichel and domi to team. Trumps kane and reinhart. They will pass us

Edmontons :young guys are starting to get it. Will add hanafin and nurse. Better

Toronto: we should be better

Carolina: early injuries hurt them. They will be better

NJ: we should be better than them next year but they are TWENTY points better than us this year. Will be close

Columbus: Will be way better than us next year. Lot of injuries to key players

philly: they can def slide back. Still almost 30 points better than us this year.


Plus a team will be winning mcdavid in this scenario. So how are we not a bottom 3 team next year????

You do know "the way of the Avalanche" this year is THIRTY points better than us don't you. So we win ten more games (we only have 22 this year) a HUGE improvement and they lose 10 more next year (big dip) they are still 10 points better than us. These are facts not opinions. Don't think that will happen. If we don't get McDavid Murray will sell the farm the draft to trade up.

It will be funny when Strome has a better career than Eichel. The gap between Eichel and Strome is closer than the one between McDavid and Eichel.

Strome has only increased his position this year. The kid is better than Reinhart and can do it all. Only thing i think he lacks is elite speed witch eichel has. I'm not hating on Eichel but lets not pretend that Eichel is right there with McDavid because he isn't. McDavid is more than a generational talent. He is the future of the League.

The top 4 in 2013 were rated higher prospects than strome. The talk that year was it would take more than #8, #16 and vanek or Meyers to even get a sniff of druion, mackinnon or barkov.

That's my point. If Gadreau, Bennett, Giordano, etc get injured early ala Carolina, they could be in the same point.

Everything is speculation. The Leafs could get lucky and go on a run just like Colorado and Calgary.

Anything is possible, but I can see those teams like Calgary or Florida falling back toward the bottom just because of the possibilities.

Back a couple blogs there was a list of teams in tank mode and how many points different from last season. Some teams it was pretty large. Could go the opposite for us

He took a gamble and lost. Doesnt mean he will for sure be fired. The team will be in the right direction irreardless of him being here or someone else

There is nothing else Murray could have done differently. He traded away our arguably best defensemen for a player that isn't even playing. His best player (Girgensons) has been hurt for a month. He has 2 back up goaltenders, an AHL goalie and an AHL backup goalie on the roster and they are still winning. He has 6 forwards on the team that belong in the AHL and they are still winning. There is no way he gets fired for this. Nolan on the other hand is gone.
