Gotta say, I loved the crowd tonight. No cheering on a loss, but hoping NJ wins.

Was a fun game to watch.

Crypes our penalties nearly crippled us, but the 5-on-3 was a botched call.

Rubbed his elbow against Emelin's mouth the way he was rubbed into the boards. That was a bit of a cheap shot, but 5 minutes was justified.

Hope we don't lose out on Marner (and don't trade up for Strome). I feel like he really is a notch above the rest when it comes to likely-hood of being a consistent top line player.

He's swedish. He stinks. He's soft.

to be honest I've been more impressed with how good defensively he has been this year than the points total...I will gladly take the first 2 1/2 years of being a "bust" if he continues to play like he has this season

Agreed. He and Severson are the future anchors of this defense. And to those screaming to trade Gelinas, I'd say why? guys got a great point shot, he's got size and skating ability. Play protected third pair minutes and the #1 PP unit.

Why not trade up for Strome? 6'3,200+ pounds, scoring leader, guy screams franchise center. If there weren't two "generational talents" out there he's be the likely #1 pick. There are even a few who rate him ahead of Eichel.

Either ISS or Central scouting ranked Strome ahead of Eichel for March. Strome is crazy good.

I agree 100%. If the lottery loser offers up the 3rd for the Devils 6th + 2nd rounder I take it in a heart beat and don't look back. Strome is the #1 center the Devils need. Top 6 wingers become available through trade, UFA etc. When was the last time a true franchise center was moved? Thornton to SJ? I don't count Seguin just because of the nonsense around him from the time he was drafted, but I'm hard pressed to think of another since Jumbo Joe.

Centers rarely get moved. Just doesn't happen often. Seguin, Thonrotn, Carter, Kesler and J.Staal might be the only big names to have moved over the last decade. The Seguin trade in hind sight was just bad for the Bruins. Especially given the lack of scoring now.

BTW Doughty at 18- 6"1, 215 OHL- 67GP, 21G, 53A, 74P
Provorov- 6'1, 205 WHL- 60GP, 15G, 46A, 61P

If Marner and Strome are off the board already that;s our pick. He's a left hand shot. Wouldn;t mind in two or three years seeing a Provorov+ Larsson, Merrill+ Severson, Gelinas + Santini D Core.

That's the catch, cup winners these days are great at D and Center. poop the Kings have depth to a point that Richards is an AHL center. Look at who Boston, LA and Chicago have on Defense and at Center. Kopitar and Doughty, Teows, Keith and Seabrook, Bergeron and Chara. Ther's a reason these teams go deep in the playoffs. Zajac, Henrique and Greene are great complimentary players, but when you're the Devils and you have a crack at a top 10 pick you have to go all in on a ffranchise player, They have Larsson. You either trade up and grab a Strome or take what I think is the best D man in the draft and that's Provorov. I'm sire people are going to scream Hanifan is the best D man. But ther is a huge difference playing for BC or playing in the WHL.

Over the past few years the WHL has put out Seth Jones, Morgan Reilly Grifffen Reinhart, early in the draft at D, the NCAA has put out?

because we have Henrique, kind of Zajac, and no other top 6 forwards in the system, MAYBE Boucher. Cam won't be here in 5 years, and he'll be slowing down long before then. We need a young top 6 forward; we have plenty of young top 4 D.

There are still guys in the second round that can be nice forwards; Yan, Sprong, Korostelev etc. I wouldn't mind if Provorov was taken, as i'd much rather have a Marner/Rantanen, but if Provorov is taken, that spells the end for a Merrill/Gelly, IMO
