There is definitely a dearth of young forwards. But none of them would be replacing a player of Malkin's caliber or mitigate the loss of 3 our of 4 top dmen. - jfkst1
No, but they certainly would provide scoring options and keep lesser players out of the lineup. I'm sorry, but our collection of under 24 forwards is very poor; arguably among the worst in the league. Everyone has one except us. |

It certainly is. And the collection of dmen under 24 is very strong (stronger when they had Despres). Goaltending might turn out to be rather deep as well. That's the price the team pays for trading for rentals. |

Looking at the last four we might beat the Sabers. But otherwise, not too optimistic. |

Perron's mistake was epic. Just brutal.....he's been brutal. Pouliot is in over his head at this point. Really hate the fact that nobody seems to understand that and be extra careful when he's on the ice.
I really blame the forwards for this slump. Just not playing smart hockey. |

No excuses, but it's just not easy to rely on this lineup. Losing a generational player and 2 of the teams best defenders and minute eaters is obviously showing the holes that exist.
Aside from Cole at times today, the defensive corp was downright awful. Simple plays weren't even made. Scuderi was himself. That's not shocking. But Lovejoy, Martin and Pouliot had several blunders as well. You'd expect better from a few talented forwards too. A little too much trying to be done at times.
When it comes to the league, the officiating is getting worse and worse. Doesn't matter who the teams playing are. it's deplorable. |

All smack-talk aside, good luck the rest of the year to you fellas. See ya in the fall. |

And that is why this organization is in the shape its in. Stupid trades for rentals and bad ones at that. I will be interested in seeing what offseason moves are made. I'm not optimistic this will get any better. We don't have a first round pick ... again. Have a second and a seventh. Yep, that will help us find those young forwards we are in dire need of. |

We were struggling with those three in the lineup prior to the injuries.

Same to you guys. Have to think that you all come back a bit stronger then too. |

good game for you guys. it's a shame for you, had CBJ started the first few weeks of the season better, there's no doubt you guys would be right in the thick of things. would have been willing to bet both wild card spots would have come from the Metro.
been a great year for the division. |

That makes him an idiot not a scumbag. This management team is trying to clean up our reputation, and although Downey has done stupid things and continues along that path, he doesn't spear, slew foot, knee or crosscheck someone in the head.
I get upset when people only accuse the Penguins of being dirty and no one else. Matt Cooke was dirty long before he came to Pittsburgh but he only got accused of it when he was here. - Thunderbolt
Actually downie does do those things. He was a pos before he came to the pens and hasn't changed at all.
I do respect what you guys have done this year with all the injuries, this isn't meant to bash the pens, just downie. |

Perron has just been brutal these past few weeks. I remember back to when we got Neal and he was just as bad in his first half of a year with us.
willing to give Perron a pass on the offensive side of things because i'm sure it's a tough adjustment to go from a losing environment like EDM to right in the thick of things, but no excuses for his costly turnovers. |

Worse than invisible. He's making mistakes. Taking penalties and floating. I can handle missing the net. I can't stand the floating and skating like a dog. |

Luckily for us, you guys have been playing just as poorly as us lately. Hoping we can bump you guys down to the wild card spot so we get Penguins-Caps, Rangers-Islanders.
That would be a fun opening round for the Metro. |

We've been brutal for a while and our coach scratching the wrong players hasn't helped. Who knows what happens these last four games but I think an isles pens series would be highly entertaining for both fan bases |

Sure it is, but this team wasn't that strong when all three were in the lineup. We couldn't score.

Perron is going through a stretch for the last three weeks that is basically worse than Sutter. Perron has been a poopty player during this stretch ... absolutely no help whatsoever. |

no doubt it would be. would probably be a lot more fair given our two declines in the last weeks.
I have a business trip up to NYC coming up once the playoffs should get going so I'm hoping we play a NY team just for that element of it.
With our full team back, I think we have a good chance. Without them though we dont have a chance. |

I'd be tempted to demote Pouliot and bring up Dumo. He's not exactly doing anything offensively and he's getting tortured on D. They can't afford his obvious inexperience right now. |
