How did Chorney play - got some minutes? - Aussiepenguin
I actually thought he played pretty well. didnt hear his name much so that is a good thing for a guy like him.
Scuderi and DP were the problems today. |

no doubt it would be. would probably be a lot more fair given our two declines in the last weeks.
I have a business trip up to NYC coming up once the playoffs should get going so I'm hoping we play a NY team just for that element of it.
With our full team back, I think we have a good chance. Without them though we dont have a chance. - SuperHenderson13
The way both teams have been playing I can see us both out in the first round. Unless we play each other, that's really the only way I see either team advancing given the tail spins both are in. |

I'd be tempted to demote Pouliot and bring up Dumo. He's not exactly doing anything offensively and he's getting tortured on D. They can't afford his obvious inexperience right now. - madmike71
Based on what I saw out of Dumoulin and Harrington earlier in the year, I wouldn't expect much of an upgrade with either of those two. Pens will just have to endure Pouliot's growing pains or get healthy. |

Any chance maatta comes back in the playoffs? That one probably hurts you guys the most. |

Isn't Scuds the problem every day? I see a few comments about DP not playing great, but it's all experience that he has to have/get sometime.
Cheers.
Have a happy wild card day everyone!
Funny last years 2 division winners are now both wild cards - how the world of pro sports changes. So we are supporting the Caps today? |

Can't get any worse than DP in their own end right now. If Malkin plays tomorrow, I'd keep Chorney up.
Dumo can't be any worse in the D zone. He's their #1 D down there. It's not a perfect solution, but they can't afford DP's terrible D play. |

No, he's done for the year. And yes, while his absence coincided with other injuries, once he was out of the lineup, the Pens defense declined.

Pouliot is going to have high variance in his play. He's also had some strong games and you're not very likely to get any of those out of Dumoulin.

But would Dumoulins bad games be as bad as Pouliot's? |

Can't say for sure, but they could very well be worse.

So the Pens lost again to a non playoff team. I get there are injuries and all but DP a -3 and from the comments he did pretty bad, lets stop saying he's the next R. Bourque or Lidstrom.
With PHI, NYI, OTT, still left, theres a chance this team can miss the playoffs, those teams are better than CBJ.
If they do move, can the pens move away from having a few great players to having a bunch of good players? |

Even if he could make it back, I would be against it. He helps, but doesn't solve our pressing problems now. That said, the way we are playing ... playoffs? LOL.
Maatta's injury certainly hurts. A healthy Dupuis solves a few problems too. |

We found out before he was traded that he was only useful against the Flyers. Can we borrow him for tomorrow for a Primanti Sandwich and then send him back after the game? |

LOL, not gonna name names but there is a blogger that thought he had top 6 potential on the Pens....A Pens sports writer said it best, far too often TK tries to "Mario" his way into the zone instead of playing to his potential. |

Aside from his first game, he's been invisible. He's scratched tonight for Boulton. Lol |

Does he still fake a slapper, go wide, then shoot way low and miss by 15' which causes a good break out pass for the opponent? That was his trademark as a Pen. |

I don't remember the last time he attempted a shot on goal |

Say what you want about TK, but he would be a major upgrade over most of the bottom 6 right now, thats how sad they are. I mean, this team right now is a 2 man team, Crosby and Horn...those two are giving great effort each night. Scuds needs to sit, I don't care what anyone says, he has been the worst Dman the past month. Just awful. |

I can live the mistakes Pouliott makes, he will learn more playing in the NHL rather than the AHL. I believe if he makes those plays in the AHL he gets away with them whereas he can't in the NHL. I have a much bigger problem with Martin's give away and then watching behind the net as Dubinski knocks in the loose puck from the goal crease. |

TK would have been fine had he played to his abilities. He would have been a very solid bottom 6 player, but 1 season he scores 20+ and all of a sudden he thinks he's better than he is and wants more cash and now he's barely a NHL player. |

I agree. I just think Pouliot is getting too many minutes due to injuries to other dmen and it isn't comforting with the postseason 4 games away and the team in a WC. He was extremely productive at the AHL level so I'm not sure what keeping him down there will do for his development. Martin overall has not been a problem. I'm actually really happy with Cole as well. Scuderi is Scuderi and Lovejoy has been inconsistent to me (which is ironic because that is the primary issue Rutherford cited with Despres). Everyone is playing above their heads right now in minutes and usage with the injuries. It's just a shame the season has come to this. |
