It's all about the value of the product. I'd take him on a fantasy team... but what are you giving up for Kessel. Is he too old for this team for what he's worth today? I just don't think you should be targeting a player like that for this team. Skill aside.

2015 1st the late one, Ennis and Compher

Or 2015 late first and 2016 first

No, but I would trade McDavid for Eichel, OEL, Domi, 2016 1st, 2017 1st
- TheSabresTaco

I know it's McDavid but I think they would laugh at that it seems a bit much. Imo I think OEL, Domi, Eichel is pretty fair. Maybe next year's 1st too but even that seems like a bit much. Maybe I'm undervaluing McDavid but Idk seems like a lot.

It would have to WOW me too trade him away. Still a worry Jack would end up being the better choice.

Yeah I mean it's just fun chat, but in reality I don't think I would trade either of them. I just don't see the feasibility.

Totally agree.

So, now that we're chatting about Kessel... what would you folks value him at? I'm not talking about what's fair or what TO would accept... I mean, what's he worth to you?

To me, I would trade the 2nd 1st, Buffalo's 2nd, Grigorenko or McCabe.

- TheSabresTaco

Big contract and big player. Would hate to send Gringo, Would take someone like him or say a Baptise type caliber.

I'd put it in front of my personnel and have a lengthy discussion about it. We get maybe (in the future) a more valuable center, a top offensive D, a top 6 winger, a likely top 10 pick in 2016 and probably a top 15 player in 2017. I would seriously consider it.

It'd be a very tough decision for me tbh. Imagine this team with Risto and OEL on the pp in 2 years. Not to mention Eichel. OOF

Get McEichel. Wrap that up and hope they get lucky and get McDavid. I would move anyone not names Girgensons and Risto for Kessel. I would part with Reinhart if needed but I would love him to be our 2C of the future. Murray has acquired his top line power forward and almost has his cornerstone franchise center just get that pure goal scoring winger and after a season of growing together they should be ready to make that playoff push (assuming they find a serviceable goalie and round out the D)

Kane McEichel Kessel?
Moulson Reinhart Girgensons
Foligno Larrson Gionta
Deslauriers McCormick? Shaller?

Risto Bogosian
Gorges Zadorov
Pysyk FA?

Dubnyk?
Enroth?

I personally don't like Kessel.
He's super talented. And I can excise his attitude, BC I think it's easy for guys to get down in that type of situation... But to me, he's a one trick pony & costs a ton of $$$
Frankly,
I'd rather have Ennis. He's already proving he can produce with multiple different linemates, and no other scoring line to take focus away from him.
He'll be even better playing on the wing with Reinhart or whoever we draft this year.

And as great as Dubnyk has been or Minny, he's been VERY inconsistent with his other teams, so I'd prefer a different goalie.

26w 7l 2otl 5SO is a nice stat
26 wins equals 52pts? Same as the Sabres have

Right...
But what are his stats like for every other team he's been on?
I'm just nervous that this is an anomaly
I wouldn't hate if we got him,
But I'd also like to see someone like Allen or Bernier brought in then as well

.914 career save percentage
.915 career save percentage

Name those goalies...I'll give you a hint one is Dubnyk

His inconsistencies were 1 season with the Oilers which is forgivable and 2 games with the Preds he had a .850 but it's 2 games. Name that other goalie...I'll give you a hint he played for the Sabres for a long time...give up? Ryan Miller

Dubnyk really hasn't been inconsistent he is just lighting this season on fire. His save percentage speaks for itself even playing for the Oilers most of his career.

On Kessel he is a one trick pony. One that scores with Alexander Ovechkin and Patrick Kane. Tell me Ennis can produce like that. Kessel also makes 2 million less than Ovi and Patty Kane.

Hmmmm...
Interesting name
I hate what a little rat he is, but I think I'd like him if he were on my team.
Depends what we'd have to give up for him.
I'd trade Grigorenko for him, but that's the most I'd do.
Unless they want draft picks that aren't 1st rounders. I'd give up multiple 2nds for him. He could for on a 2nd or 3rd line for us IMO

He sure would light it up, but I think he's just a bit too old at 28 this Oct and that Contract would suck

I agree that it's forgivable on the Oilers, but half of a great season doesn't convince me he's the goalie of the future for us.
Like I said, I'm ok bringing him in... But i'd want some competition for him here as well.

Kessel can score, but that's all he does. He also costs A LOT, we will have to give up A LOT, and he does have attitude issues.
Do I think Ennis will be a 40goal scorer?
Nope.
But he has a better all-around game, is younger, had ZERO attitude issues, and costs WAY less...
And I do think Ennis will be a 30goal guy

We need to build a "TEAM" here, not just a collection of all stars.
While Kessel is super talented, I just don't think he's a guy u win with.
And apparently Shannahan (one of my all time fav players) feels the same way. So I'm gonna side with him over u on the Kessel debate.

I just don't like him, so I'll pass unless we get him dirt cheap... But I doubt that happens

I wouldn't trade McCabe, but I really like him.
I think Grigorenko, a late 1st, & a 2nd is a fair trade
I value him at less than that, but I don't like him
Problem is,
It'll take more than that to get him most likely, which is another readout I'd pass on trading for him
That's just me though. I understand why some like him, I just disagree
