NBC has to be trotting Milbury out there like this on purpose, right? Sort of an "any press is good press" sort of thing? Either way, he has just been ANNIHILATED. - BulliesPhan87

These guys are simply there to cause a reaction.
Its the whole point of them arguing, being over-dramatic and so on.
Bottom line is to attract viewers or to get people talking. Which is exactly what Mike has done with his comments on Mason. Money makes the world go round. Joke.

well maybe I would stay tuned to intermission if I thought I was getting good insight by the commentators.

That's not the point. I rarely watch the INT shows because they are over-dramatic, made to be purposely controversial and so on.
Its built to suck in "new fans" and put the NHL on the map. I don't agree with it, but its why guys like JR and Mike are employed. Same for that crazy suit wearing freak up here in the north.
Same for Jack Edwards. Any bonehead will be able to admit that there are probably smarter people better suited for the job. However he gets people talking, and draws viewership even if its negative.

A guy like Milbury is employed on the national level where Clement is only employed on the local level.

You are correct, but it is sad
There once was a time in this world where intellect and credible positions were valued
Now, if you don't have a hot take, your media exposure is nil
