My problem is I never had a bad cheesesteak in my life. So definitely better then others, but none that I didn't like. - MJL
have you ever had an out of town/chain store imitation? |

If you're expecting him to be a first pair player, then the expectation is the issue in my opinion. He's been in the wrong role the majority of his career, so I think he needs to make a transition from playing a cautious defensive style, to becoming more aggressive offensively, and using his skating more. - MJL
He's not a top pair defenseman but he's being paid like one. If he's not offensively aggressive enough, that's on him. It's on the player to change this. |

You mean putting sliced steak smothered in cheese on a bun is never bad? |

The trouble is, when you have had a great one, it spoils you. I've had cheesesteaks that people from outside Philly thought were good, and I was like, meh...the roll was soggy, too greasy, cheese not melted enough...yada, yada, yada.

The out of town cheese steaks are hilarious. Steak-Ums with nacho cheese and green peppers.
Jim's is still my favorite place. |

Actually, he's not being paid like a top pair defenseman. I agree, it is on him to become more aggressive offensively, and make more of an impact offensively.

Okay, so what do you feel is the going price for a top pair defenseman. NOT a number one defenseman, a top pair defenseman. There are complains of Grossmann and Schenn being paid 3.5 and 3.6 million. Apparently, they MUST be dumped right away! |

I look forward to games where the ticket is 1/8 the cost of a beer.
That place will be an absolute ghost town this summer. |

A legitimate top pair defenseman, is going to get a lot more then 5M a year in the free agent market in the NHL. They are more scarce then ever in availability.

So what is Andrew MacDonald and is he getting paid fair value? Based on what I've seen (which includes last season) he's over paid. |

As the season progressed: A story of flyers fan's feelings towards Nick Schultz in the 2014-2015 season
This season: preseason- Nick Schultz is awful, they should never let him see the light of day on the ice, he'll never be more than a 7th defensemen. Quarter way through the season Oh wait... Nick Schultz isn't playing half bad... he's actually doing... do I dare say it? Well? Few weeks later: PRAISE THE LORD WE RESIGNED NICK SCHULTZ. HE'LL BE JUST WHAT WE NEED UNTIL OUR D PROSPECTS ARE READY. WHAT A STEAL. Halfway through the season: Nick Shultz has been our best defenseman. Now Nick Schultz' play has dipped toward the end of this brutal season. (just like every other single player on this team with a deflated morale).
You can't over analyze these last few weeks regarding players' level of play. Like I said, a lot of these guys are probably a little disappointed with how the season progressed so you can't blame them for playing a little sub par. I'd have trouble giving it my absolute all with that dunce of a coach trying to pump me up and motivate me to play my hardest on games that mostly don't matter. Also another factor is, for all we know, the flyers brass might be telling them take it easy in the rest of the games so that we can get better draft position. Idk. I'm clearly no expert. Just a flyers fan. I don't think the defense that was listed would be as awful as this years. They all seem to be competent nhl defenders, minus grossman and gudas, they can all move pretty well. Idk we'll just have to wait and see. - benjichronic
As I've said before, the Flyers have cornered the market on 4-6 dmen. MDZ is the best of the bunch and he's not getting top pair minutes on a contender.
Gotta face some painful facts folks. There are no legit top pair guys available in FA nor will anybody trade you one unless you massively overpay. Barring a miracle, the Flyers D coros won't be ready to contend for 3 to 5 years. It's why I'd be open to trading anyone over the age of 26, including Giroux. |

Slightly overpaid. I would've preferred around 4.5M.

It's the biggest problem facing this team moving forward. How to get the defense caught up without sitting and waiting for 3-5 years. It's part of what makes even the thought of trading Giroux somewhat reasonable.

You should make a list of which players you think that applies to and which it doesn't.
