Having a GM who was essentially incompetent when it came to drafting didn't help you guys. If you take away first round picks, Shero was pretty brutal on draft day, save for a few guys.

In fairness, a lot of people passed on FF. I didn't have much faith he'd be a good NHL player, personally.

As far as Staal over Toews, I'd be willing to bet a lot that if Staal's last name was different or Eric wasn't much of a player, that you guys would have ended up with Toews.
