The plan is to get the next great one.
In the plan i listed you get the current great one and the next great one.
Win, win for everyone. - ImThatGuy
It's a win for Pittsburgh only.
You just gutted your team and now have no assets to move for other pieces that are needed in the future.
I don't think the idea from a Buffalo point of view has been well thought out. |

i'm not trying to rile you up.......but my understanding is the plan is to win the cup - feetontheair22
No worries.
That is the plan, that plan vaults into action with Crosby as your 1C and McDavid as your 2C. |

If Buffalo wins a cup or 2, in which this scenarios makes them the favorite, it is all worth it. |

Cept the Sabres are gonna have Eichel. Not saying that's a bad thing, but puts a crimp in your plan |

6 years?
Kane-Crosby-Moulson
Ennis-McDavid-Girgensons
Gionta-Grigoenko-Stewart
4th line guys
Risto-Bogo
Oduya-Pysyk
McCabe-Gorges
Weber
Or it vaults you to instant cup contender.

You do realize Crosby is more of a sure thing than Zad, Reinhart(who i expect to be good) and 3 first round picks.
2016 first round pick 2-3 years away. 2017 first round pick 2-3 years away. thats 6+ years right there. |

I don't think Crosby is the best in the league any longer. He may be leading in points, but there are 22 guys with more goals than him. He is benefitting from having a 2nd line with Malkin taking some of the attention away from him. At this point in their careers, I would take Ovie, Stamkos or Tavares over Crosby. |

I don't think I've ever seen a team without goalies be considered a cup contender.

The plan is to insert a top-end player into the same development timeline as the rest of what will be a talented team. We get Crosby and have him languish on this squad for three years and get us maybe into the playoffs. |

Yeap, his fault, not terrible Ray Shero's fault or overrated Disco Dan.
Crosby fault only, not Fleury for imploding in several playoff series. |

I don't think that would beat the recent Crosby teams, which haven't made it very far (as DD pointed out) in the last 5-ish seasons.

no.
your opinion is not sh1t. but it is based wholly on conjecture - Ihateallofu
I just don't get how I'm told to "do math" because Crosby's ppg is slightly higher than Kane's now, after the season is over, when at the time of Kane's injury, Crosby was far behind Kane in ppg and total points
Also that scoring is down, but I've provided information showing it isn't.
Conjecture? Seems to me scoring spiked after the ASG this year. But Kane was significantlly ahead of everyone at the time of his injury, just after the ASG. Its not exactly conjecture. His ppg and total points would have been higher than even Crosby.
But eh. i'm done. |

I know the standings are CRAZY this year but in order for the PENS to need the last game against us, shouldn't we want the SENS to beat them tonight? It should help, I know the PENS play the ISLANDERS on FRIDAY night then finish with us on Saturday so we might need both games but what do you guys think? |

moulson couldn't hang on a top line with JT but he will thrive with crosby?
gringo is going to play defense?
gionta is going to be the next gordie howe?
stewart is going to come back and give a poop?
oduya is going to come here?
risto is going to run a top 8 pp?
pysyk and mccabe are now knowns?
let alone the pk issues and goaltending issues
lot of if's to build around a player that is one hit away from being out of the game |

Plus the assumption of signing Oduya and drafting McDavid.
It's more likely they don't sign Oduya and draft Eichel. |

What if Reinhart tears both knees?
What if Zadorov continues his selfinshness?
Will those picks ever turn out?
If Foligno jumps out of a plane and has career ending back injury?
Those picks all busts tweeners.
All possible.
Crosby is the best player and face of the NHL. You will not get him for much if any less than that. - ImThatGuy
i said that because he already has concussion issues.. not because some freak accident might happen.. Once you have them it is easier to get them again. that was all i was saying. |

He's rarely THE goal scorer on that team though, so I don't consider Crosby's lack of goals to matter. His 120 point season he "only" had 36 goals |
