Impressive. I would have only been 13 when that version came out, but that's pretty impressive. |

I felt so "cool" because it was the first time I ever found where an audio file for games were, and it was just a plain MP3 that played when you started the game, so I replaced it with a Who song. Everytime I launched the game I was greeted with 8+ minutes of goodness (Won't Get Fooled Again) |

I was thinking more in the early 80's when he was real good. Didn't realize he played so long. |

I hate to tell you, but its your team defense that is just brutal. Its not all the goaltenders. I dont think its a coincidence that Fasth, Scrivens and Dubnyk can perform well in ANA, LA and ARI/MIN away from the Oilers, but are pure poop when they play for the Oil. - theblueandgold
No Dubnyk played well in the short season, and Scrivens looked good for his first half season with the Oil....I'm not saying our Defense doesnt suck, it does, but none of those guys played great consistantly for us. Youre talking as though Scrivens is a solid starter...he isnt. |

Perrault and Dom are the only two even close.
Mogilny and Lafontaine were never considered the best player in the game at any point - sbroads24
It wasn't about them being considered the best player.
When Crosby puts up 76 goals in a season, let me know. Also, when he adds 95 assists in a season, let me know. Pat LaFontaine/Steve Yzerman is exactly the career path Crosby would have had if he'd played in that era. Maybe hits 150 points once but is generally a 100+ point guy.
So just to be clear here.
Ryan O Reilly, Ryan Callahan, Marian Hossa, Louis Erikkson, Wayne Simmonds, Jason Pominville, Alex Burrows all better than Crosby. - ImThatGuy

Not even close to what I said. Better ALL AROUND players, meaning a better defensive, physical, responsible, not whining or diving game. I didn't say they were ALL AROUND BETTER. There's a big difference. |

I've read your posts and it's clear you put no meaning to context.
Using points one got in a bygone era as some sort of a strike against Crosby is ludicrous IMO. Dmen got more points than many of the league leaders today. Bernie Nichols got 150 pts once!!!
You point to Crosby no longer being the best because he doesn't win the scoring race by 20. But instead wins it by a small margin......this is seriously your contention?
And you're totAlly under rating Crosby defensive prowess. He may not be on the same level defensively as some of the elite guys like toews and Bergeron, but he's far from brutal like ovie.
And on the flip side, toews and berg are nowhere near his level offensively.
Which has been consistently the best in the league for many years |

He said that Crosby would without a doubt be the best Sabre ever. I just shot off a list. Of those, I'd argue that LaFontaine is the better player. Yeah. I would. |

Sure, I'm all for constructive discussion. I'm not using points from a bygone era as a strike against Crosby but are we supposed to believe that say, Gretzky wouldn't have been able to consistently put up 60 goal, 150 point seasons in today's NHL?
Its not all just about the era someone played in. So, since scoring was higher in the 80s and 90s do we put an asterisk next to individual stats?
I just don't think that the problem today is completely the NHL's own fault, large goalie pads or a small rink/increased player size/pad size.
So by the logic that today's NHL is what's holding players back from scoring goals, Ovechkin would be a consistent 80 - 100 goal scorer, since his 60 goals seasons and 50 goal seasons were in the modern NHL. And Crosby would be putting up 150+ point seasons every year.

Different era's. Crosby would be a 125-150 player in Patty's day.
Also, he isn't a one dimensional player, he might not hit but he can defend. So can Malkin. When they had Staal they had such an excellent mix of two way players it's what helped them win the cup |
