Not really a statement. No shootouts in the playoffs, which is where you made your bread in this game. LA would take you in a 7-game set. - Ersberg
Slaying the LA dragon is the mental prep we need if we are going to move past the first round. Very much in the way we moved past CHI in the first round in 2011 it mentally prepared the guys for a long run. LA has shown nothing in the way of being a playoff winner this year let alone making the playoffs. Your road record is atrocious and that ain't gonna get you far in playoff hockey. I actually like our chances more vs LA than the Flames. When teams like the Flames make it in with that kind of hard work ethic and conditoning they can create fits for other clubs especially given the unpredictability of the first rounds. |

Kesler ain't gettin no cup playing in Anaheim. Guys a natural born loser. - LordHumungous
I was ready to list all of Kesler's achievements and criticize your definition of loser. But after looking at the list of his achievements, it ain't that impressive (in comparison to other high profile hockey players):
2002 - Best Player Award (IIHF World U18 Championships)
2003 - CCHA All-Rookie Team
2005 - AHL All-Star Game
2011 - NHL All-Star Game
2011 - Frank J. Selke Trophy |

I just remembered we had a bet (for a dozen beer) at the beginning of the year, either Daniel would score more than 16 goals or the Canucks would make the playoffs...can't recall??? I win either way |

I think Eddie has earned a bit of a break. Hopefully Markstrom gets the game on Thursday.
Would also like to see Sven draw back in on Thursday. Maybe give one of the older guys a break. |

Yup!
I didn't think they were capable of making the playoff this year, and now that I see the point total, I am astonished this group is pushing up against 100, and that will barely be enough. Great job by the management team in turning this around, and great job by the players showing us they still have something left in the tank.

It's too bad the Flames/Kings game isn't early, so they could wait and see before making a decision.
I think if Miller is ready he gets both games and starts game 1 of the playoffs. If Miller isn't good to go on Thursday, Lack will get the game. Markstrom is up for the duration though. |

Miller#1 Lack#1b. We all know how the Goalie thing works in VAN. It's a good problem for management to have but they need to handle it better than in the past. If Markstrom gets his game going they will really have a cluster F. In that case call MacT.

I had it at 19 for Dany so lets hope he scores one more. A bet he is happy to lose I am sure. |

I'll give him credit for the U18 and WJC gold but that's pretty much it (maybe the 2011 Nashville series). My definition of Kesler's 'loser' status is at the pro level he knows exactly how to finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Maybe it will take guys like Getzlaf and Perry who have won literally at evey level to teach him that who knows...but I just can't see Kesler being the go to guy in ANA. |

Did this management group actually 'turn it around' or was Torts that destructive to an already decent veteran team? |

It really is a good problem. WD has been a Miller guy since the start of the season. I think his tune may have changed. I still feel that Eddie is solid but is known for that one $hit goal. I have been a Miller guy myself all season but Läck has swayed me. I think I go with the hot hand it would be silly not to. It may have been a big Q if he could be a #1 but he has proved he is a legit #1 in the league imo. Will he be our #1 this next season? Lots of questions after we win the cup this season regarding a lot of players. Not just Läck. Miller may just be the odd man out unless Läck has a major stinker in the playoffs. |

I don't remember anyone on here when he was brought in having anything nice to say on that hiring. Big mistake. Locker room had a couple issues as well that were also purged. |

That's a great question. I think it's a little of both. Also, don't throw Torts under the buss all by himself, Scroatee had something to do with it too... |
