Just had to say I saw your comment about Greg Giraldo and him doing all the roasts (which I've seen). He was one of the funniest comedians out there and especially his stuff on the roasts. It's a shame he died so young (and I believe it was *surprise surprise* an overdose)

By the way, I spoke to Nucker about a possible playoff pool (not sure if we would draft or use a box format) and he said he would be interested. I figured some of the CWH pool might want to check out, as well as anyone else on here who would like to participate. Let Nucker or me know. We could then figure out how many players/format etc (and whether to make it free or have a nominal fee - something that Nucker can afford - he might have to sell his Kesler Kollection lol)

(I'll bump this post later in the evening when everyone is around)

Twas just before the game,
I was feeling some stress
With the Flames points behind us
And the Kings just one less
With a ‘one win’ exception
Our series’d gone south
Again I was reminded,
From Dan Murphys mouth
The puck dropped at center!
Poor defense, LA goal!
As the Canucks grabbed their shovels,
And jumped in a hole!
But wait, the pace quickened
A Vancouver spark?
Just like San Jose, would the Kings
Jump the shark?
Burrows with a big hit, Kenins
With a few
A ‘too many men penalty’
And Radim sat for two.
I got up for the bathroom, a key nearly missed!
As Henrik just got his
Seven hundredth assist!
I fretted and stressed, with sweat on my brow
We might win this game,
But just where, when and how?
But then came the shootout,
Each team had missed twice.
Then “Sorry, LA, but there goes your home ice”

They are who we think they are.

I remember they guy who taught me how to play racketball kicked my ass for months . I practiced very hard and finally I won a game, then another and soon after he couldn't beat me. Maybe the Canucks have now surpassed the master. Kings don't look all that intimidating anymore.

It's possible but I don't think it's that clean cut. It doesn't take a great team to sweep a good team. Just one that's a bit better, doesn't have key injuries, and minimizes mistakes. All 4 games when we were swept by SJ were very close, but we still went home in 4, which looks like a slaughter. I don't think they were that much better than us.

We might be closer to LA than we think, but these guys have proven to have another gear in elimination hockey. I still think it's much more likely they beat us over 7 games than we beat them but all trends come to an end of course.

I would prefer more of an office pool style where we set up the brackets and pick the winning teams, predicted series length, and predicted total goals, instead of individual players.

But I'm in either way.

In the past... Yes.

Honestly every year is a new year. Shelf life do a professional sports team to dominate these days is 1-4 years. This is the end of year 3.

Once Canucks stopped playing in fear they have matched all the top teams

I still think the Kings are within their shelf life, they've always scrapped their way through the regular season, but what you say is very true.

For me, Two important things shifted in last nights game; one, we were half there already which was:
a) We can beat the Kings;

But of greater importance, was

b) Oh sh*t. The Canucks can beat us.

Maybe it was a look of determination, but I read Quicks game face as saying "Can I please get some help back here? Anybody!?'

Kings still have a little left 4 sure. But....

They are no where near as intimidating. Winnipeg St.Louis would match them with size and toughness.

Richards Brown have taken a step back. Gaborik is not the 40 goal man anymore, and most of all Quicks has had many bad games this year and their D is no where near as mean.

The nice thing about the Canucks this year is The Twins Burrows Hamhuis Edler Hansen are all doing what they are suppose to be doing.

This is the First year the Sedins crash nets , get involved in scrums and lay out big checks. I would not be surprised with any result this year.

Exactly, parity has made it possible for anyone to win this year. It will come down to who ever gets hot and of course who gets the goaltending, it's only 16 wins, to bad Columbus is out.

If Patrick Kane comes back it'll be a Chicago vs NYR final - my prediction.

It looks like he has made some good progress, and the most optimistic time-line for his return is the second round of the play-offs. Although I'm sure they are going to play it cautious.

I might be interested, depending on the format.
