And while forgetting the mastodons, the Flyers must remember to take out the mastodon dung... You know.. Lecadavier, Corpseburger, Ronald MacDonald, Gross-Man, Retardo, and L. Sloth....

And I liked what I saw from him in those 31 games. Maybe he coulda put up a few more points, but he was strong with the puck on his stick, and he was strong in his own end. - benjichronic
Yup. I'm just not sure how it can be predicted what type of player/center he's going to be after so few games. |

Whats the hoopla with Zacha? I feel like a guy that big, fast and that skilled should be offensively dominant but his total arent all that great. - jak521

Coots, Carter, Pitkanen, JvR, Zubrus, Morin... the last guy they took in the top-15 who wasnt safe and big was Forsberg.

Screw the Flyers. Go Sens.
Let's give them the 6-5 win to end the season. Jake with all our tallies. Sound fair? - hereticpride
If it gets Ottawa into the playoffs (especially if it eliminates P'burgh), I'm all for it. |

Brayden Schenn can't help himself but score now. There's a couple of ways to look at it:
Glass half full: He's turning the corner and getting more offensive confidence that he'll carry into next year.
Glass half empty: He's been great ever since the games became meaningless.
Personally, I think the position change has helped. I think a new coach might help. - johndewar
It's really about riding a wave of confidence. We've seen this before with Schenn, only to have a mini slump turn into a giant slump. |

Agreed. And that's why I think Baby Schenn could benefit from a coaching change at this stage of his development (such as it is).
Please know that I'm not saying Baby Schenn's progress is Berube's fault (I don't think that), but sometimes another guy can come in and find the right buttons to push on an individual and things click. |

Interesting stuff. Is bankruptcy handled differently in Canada?
THis is a U.S. filing, Chapter 11 is for reorganization of finances for a business (usually). I know we have some attorneys here who can explain 11 vs 7 (dissolution) and 13 (reorganization for most individuals). |

Who are the grinders that we've overloaded on? I consider Stewart a Power Forward and I consider Kassian a tall young player with that potential but a grinder if nothing more. - SuperSchennBros
Well practically the entire team. The only forwards on the Flyers who are high end skilled guys with some speed and quickness are Giroux, Voracek, and to lesser extent Read. The rest are all grinders and checking types. |

Management thinks he needs to play more like a power forward than a pure skill type. He has said himself he's better when he gets physically more involved. (Note the bloody face Sunday followed soon by a goal. Maybe we need him to be roughed up in warmups every game. ) |

G wasn't top 15 but it was certainly pretty risky.
It's hard to argue with their first round drafting strategy though. They have way more hits than misses |

It's amazing how good he looks when he's not anchored by a playing-through-injury Matt Read and a playing-through-injury-that-the-GM-knew-about-when-he-acquired-him Umberger. |

I think he has more to offer than just being a PF. I think telling him that over and over again has hurt his overall game. He has a better all around game than someone who just goes to the net and whacks at rebounds |

I'm just calling BS that the team needs a specific upgrade, which happens to be a playmaker. If we need a playmaker, the Flyers could go out and get one. I could see the Leafs giving up on Kadri. The Oilers might be willing to part with RNH if they get McDavid (Unlikely). I just wouldn't shut the door on getting bigger and tougher for one or two other things. We have players to give up. The only two players who strike me as gritty on this roster is Simmonds and White. The rest are average to below average or aren't consistent in terms of willing to get their nose dirty.
I feel there is a large margin between Giroux to Couturier and Couturier to Laughton. - SuperSchennBros
Have you been watching Voracek play this season? How hard he is to get off the puck, and how well he plays along the boards and down low. Is that not grit? How about Raffl? They have plenty of grit, they need more speed, skill, and talent, and they definitely need a LW that fits that bill for the 2nd line. Biggest forward need on the team. Another slow skating mucker like Stewart is not what they need. |

Id argue that Schenn and Vinny are also skilled types.
The Flyers really dont need to go out and get big strong forwards. They do need (imo) guys who have a bit more of a scoring mentality though. If you are going through FA its gonna be tough to find that guy, but maybe Michael Ryder could be a relatively cheap addition..
I expect the Flyers to address this during the draft though.. adding two first round forwards could be a huge boost in a few short seasons as forwards tend to contribute pretty quickly (especially first round picks). |

Thanks Bill. Two games left, thank goodness. I want to put this behind us as soon as possible. The last 10 minutes of the game were horrible, as we all know. The players still refuse to play a 60 minute game. I don't know any coach that could fix that. Hopefully, once the long term deals are over, we can start replacing those players. I have faith in Hexy, and his philosophy. It's about time someone started making some organizational changes, and I hope Hexy is the man to do it.
The Canes are next. Let's see if the team can get it up against them. Viagra anyone...lol? |

And that is the true terror in trying to ride with him for another season.
I'm a fan and a sucker for production, just like everyone else. I want/wanted him to do well.
But his season is an open book -- no hyperbole is needed. It is hard for me to trust a player whose prolonged slumps, of which there were multiple, looked like his.
Can they bring him back? Sure. I'm just a fan, and I don't know everything. But it is hard for me to believe that when the lights are brightest, Schenn is gonna be there with bells on. I just have not seen that kind of player nearly often enough when the games mattered

The Flyers are at their best when they move their feets, use their skills, move the puck, and control play.
Grit is good to have as well. We have that in spades. We need more speed and skill in the top 9 |
