It's amazing how good he looks when he's not anchored by a playing-through-injury Matt Read and a playing-through-injury-that-the-GM-knew-about-when-he-acquired-him Umberger.

Bschenn is on 46 and Couturier is on 35. If Carolina turn up and roll over like they did back in December they could be going into game 82 with a chance to hit 50 and 40.

And that is the true terror in trying to ride with him for another season.

I'm a fan and a sucker for production, just like everyone else. I want/wanted him to do well.

But his season is an open book -- no hyperbole is needed. It is hard for me to trust a player whose prolonged slumps, of which there were multiple, looked like his.

Can they bring him back? Sure. I'm just a fan, and I don't know everything. But it is hard for me to believe that when the lights are brightest, Schenn is gonna be there with bells on. I just have not seen that kind of player nearly often enough when the games mattered

- AllInForFlyers

If they were willing to waste an entire season by letting Berube coach, I don't see why patience isn't the smarter road with Brayden Schenn. His trade value isn't going to sink all that much should the Flyers want to part ways with him by December should he prove not any better longterm in the RW role.

One thing that Couts has that a lot of people dont realize is great offensive presence. He is really good at setting the pace and developing plays. His passing (which we have seen at times this season) is also above average.

Couts will do just fine if we are patient.

Following @BobRoberts on Twitter will educate many people on Couturier. He puts up a good case regarding #14 better than I could posit.

I hope you are right. I really do. If he can play and truly produce when the team needs points, that is one less player they have to acquire via draft or trade

G wasn't top 15 but it was certainly pretty risky.

It's hard to argue with their first round drafting strategy though. They have way more hits than misses

15-30, no team is better.

1-15, they're typical.

So is there any LW in the top 10 that can step into the league right now and play top 6 min?

There seems to be chemistry between B Schenn and Couturier. I'm for keeping them together w/Read. Or is it possible for Schenn to play the left side w/Couturier at center and Simmonds on the right?

If possible, I'd like to see:

?? (Draftee) Giroux Voracek
Schenn Couturier Simmonds
Raffl Laughton Read
White Bellemare Vandevelde
Rinaldo

I understand having a kid move into the the top LW role might be unrealistic, but you could flip Raffl for the draftee. That left side just kills the Flyers. I can't see a place on the roster for either Umberger or VLC, yet, no idea how you move either.

Another possiblity is:

Raffl Giroux Voracek
?? (Draftee) ?? Simmonds
Read Couturier Schenn
White Bellemare Vandevelde

Trade Laughton or keep him as a first callup. But this leaves more questions than answers. And we haven't even begun to address the defense. At this point I'd consider throwing Laughton in as a chip in moving VLC or Umberger.

B Schenn's ES scoring chance numbers have been good all year, too.

I think it's a confidence problem for him right now. Which is relatively easy for him to get over. He looks really poised playing defense, but as soon as that puck hits his stick, he just looks nervous. His posture, and his demeanor change.

And I don't think Morin was a safe pick.

Agreed. Wasn't it argued that he was kind of a reach and a bit of a project?

Interesting stuff. Is bankruptcy handled differently in Canada?

Definitely was. "Raw" was the term used, I believe. Not Garrett Klotz "raw" but raw. Pulock was the consensus defenseman pick at that spot.

I'm highly critical of Brayden Schenn, but I don't think trading him now is the way to go, unless you get something equivalent in a position of need in return. I'm skeptical of being able to get that, so you might as well let BSchenn play out his bridge deal.

Maybe Canadian bankruptcy courts even toss in a little passive aggressive judgement on how you could be better with money.

See, confidence might be a part of it, but I think it is almost as though he is alone out there. He is looking to set up a play, but ends up needing to just throw the puck on the net because of who he was playing with. Now with a healthy Read and Schenn they have look amazing.

OT, but I'm really hoping that Calgary makes it. My ideal scenario in the WC is Winnipeg falling apart and LA sneaking in, but I'd love to see them try to make some noise vs. Vancouver.

Totally agree. I also like Couturier and Schenn together. There seems to be chemistry and them together could be a catalyst for Couturier's offensive game.

Hawks fans have been beyond disappointed with timonen so far. kinda sad to hear. I had doubts of whether he'd be able to come back and be dominant in any meaning of the word. In Kimmo's defense, he still only has 16 games under his belt since coming back from injury.
