Let's call it being under-utilized then. And he scored those goals in spite of it. - wolfhounds
For sure. If they had left him on the top line all season, and given him a regular shift on the 2nd pp unit, maybe he's flirting with 30 goals.
For this, and many other reasons, I would really like to see them bring in a new coach. It's not that I think Berube has been horrible, he's no Wayne Cashman for gods sake, but he's been average.
The Flyers need and deserve better than average in a head coach.

I would say your reply is looking to do that. My question was a rhetorical question that makes a simple point. - MJL
And what point is that? That Berube is an awesome coach, and these guys called "Giroux" and "Voracek" have nothing to do with Raffl's production?
EDIT: Don't answer that question ^... it was rhetorical. |

No, it's that Jeff Reese left the organization of his own free will over a mayonnaise dispute with Ilkka Sinisalo. |

They need a guy that's very willing to give young players or unproven players ice time and a proper role to grow. Berube has failed in this regard.
Although with Snider being more vocal as the year has progressed, the "win now/at all cost" mantra obviously still looms large. Not sure how much rope Craig would have to do that, playing kids/unproven guys. |

I think you can make an argument that he should have gotten more PP time, other then that, based on all the factors, and the situation, I don't see any major issues with his usage. The value of a player like Raffl is that he can be moved around the lineup, and can play multiple positions, in a effort to try and find a combination of lines that are best for the team. That he was able to produce 20+ goals is an indication of his versatility, rather then a situation where he was under-utilized and scored in spite of that. |

Yup. Gotta see what he can do given more responsibility and a greater role. You lose nothing defensively when playing him and you might get more offense if you give him regular PP time. He's just completing his 2nd NHL season, so there might be more room to grow. Who knows? After a handful of opportunities, he's already got as many or more goals than Couts and Read on the man-advantage. |

"The way I see it, once we all realize what a stupid idea hockey in Vegas is, the NHL can move the team to Quebec City in five years -- after attendance has dropped to 3,000 a game -- without having to change its name. And guess what, they're building a rink in Quebec City as we speak! Wait a minute, move a team to a market where people actually live and breathe the game? That's a crazy idea!" |

My wife does 90% of the cooking and 100% of the laundry. In fact, my only real household responsibilities are walking the dog when it's cold outside and putting the trash out. Well that and removing the occasional squirrel corpse when my pup is successful in her pursuit, LOL.
I am a lucky man!

Hawks fans have been beyond disappointed with timonen so far. kinda sad to hear. I had doubts of whether he'd be able to come back and be dominant in any meaning of the word. In Kimmo's defense, he still only has 16 games under his belt since coming back from injury. - benjichronic
I blame their expectations. Why would anyone think that a 39 year old who hadn't played an NHL game in 10 months and hadn't even skated for most of that time would perform any better than he has? He's not super-human. |

Maybe he would've, and maybe the Flyers would have continued to be a one line team. The goal is to get balance throughout the lineup, and get more then one consistent line. I find it amazing when the discussion is about how they lack talent in areas, and don't have the right mix of players, and then criticize the coach because he wasn't able to , through countless line changes and experimentation, find away to make it all gel together and work. |
