I'm not reading Chris Stewart as being a top 10 to 15 UFA anywhere. Even Mike Fisher is making lists ahead of him. I think this is good news if it's possible to bring him on board at a reasonable price.

From my understanding Wayne Simmonds and Chris Stewart are not only good friends but went over seas together specifically with the idea of playing on the same team. I think he'd add much needed toughness and grit to this line up that I find lacking. His scoring touch isn't what it once was but he's never been on an overly offensive team. While Ryan has done a pretty good job in replacing Simmonds on the first unit of the PP, I think Stewart would be a nice addition to our pretty pathetic second unit. Stewart has also seen time on the left side in Buffalo if need to anywhere within this line up.
A 27 year old Chris Stewart is a guy I'd really like to add at a reasonable price.
I still like Zach Kassian who is newly 24 years old in a bottom 6 role in the right deal. I'd really like to see this team get bigger and tougher to play against. - SuperSchennBros
The Flyers already have an over abundance of grinder types. Stewart or Kassian aren't the kind of players this team needs in my opinion. They need to add some speed and quickness to the lineup. |

Jake was on a pace for 100+ at one time. Didn't figure that was sustainable. He's had a hell of a year though. A shame he's going to fall short of the Art Ross. |

This team would be in good shape if they even won half they games they took to OT and/or played relatively ok hockey against poopty teams this season would have a different look.
Dear god. - Giroux_Is_God
One legit top pair dman would do wonders for them as well.

That's why that whole "on pace" thing is pretty much meaningless, except maybe for sports that have laps. As Yoda said, you either do or don't, there is no 'pace'. |

Yeah, remember we ID'd him as a trade target mid-season... Suffice to say that ain't happening. |

But, but, he's a quality top 4 dman.

My question is, what kind of defensive is MacDonald? He's clearly not an offensive defenseman, and he's sure as hell not a defensive defenseman... He's not physical at all... I guess he's getting 5+ million b/c he makes a decent first pass, and he blocks shots (that lead to broken bones). |

They also have more points than Bouwmeester so maybe we can trade one of them for him. Cause that's how it works. You just judge a defensemen by how many points they have in the current season. |

He's Randy Jones on a more egregious contract... every so often he does something that stands out... otherwise, purely replacement level is all you get. |

Isn't AMac supposed to be more offensively capable than L Schenn or Gmann? |

Brutal loss for the Kings last night. Looks like they are going to miss the playoffs.
Full marks to Calgary, I thought they were toast once Giordano went down. Monahan and Gaudreau are a couple of studs. |

Answer: basically average and overpaid by at least 1 million per season.

If the Kings and Pens both miss the playoffs, I will be very happy. What's even better is that I believe that neither still owns their 1st round pick this year.

The Kings would get a pass I think. They've played a ton of hockey the last 3 years. They will prob finish with 95 points, not great, but not awful either.
There is a slight chance that all the teams in the Eastern Conf who make the playoffs will have at least 100 points. That would have to be a first I would think. |
