What a (frank)ing season:
*Voracek in the art Ross race
*giroux not far behind
*mason playing lights out
*Mark Streit's second assist of the game gave him 50 points on the 2014-15 season; the last Flyers defenseman to reach that milestone was Chris Pronger in 2009-10.
*two wins from the most wins at home since 2000-2001
*MISS THE PLAYOFFS - funmaster18

Pretty much, might be nice to draft a natural LW with skill once in a while
- BiggE
It might take a couple more years in the A, but I think Leier could be a decent depth scoring LW in the NHL. Probably won't blossom in to top end talent, but I think he was a steal in the 4th rd. |

Re: Giroux shootouts. I think its the wrists. The crazy stick work he displayed during his first two seasons is almost gone entirely. The majority of his goals now seem to come from snipe jobs in the slot. You just don't see him dekeing guys out their pads the way he used to. Though I'm sure a good deal of it comes down to guys knowing how to defend against him now as well. |

The Pens collapse and cap/player mismanagement is pretty amazing. Seems a bit early for that franchise to be on the downswing, but they've got some serious problems to address. What a shame. |

I really wish I knew what the answer was. I do not think any rules are going to be changed. The shootout has been in place now 9 years? They don't seem in any hurry to change anything with it.
They will change other poop that makes zero sense. Why aren't the playoffs 1-8 seeds based on points? Answer: Because it's simple, and makes a ton of sense. So they must over think things and try and re-invent the wheel. - PLindbergh31
Rank them 1-16 like they did in the good old days. F travel costs. |

Not to mention the constant injuries with that team.
They really need to move Malkin for a haul to get the assets needed to right the ship. I certainly won't complain if they keep fooling themselves though. |

The Flyers already have an over abundance of grinder types. Stewart or Kassian aren't the kind of players this team needs in my opinion. They need to add some speed and quickness to the lineup. - MJL
Who are the grinders that we've overloaded on? I consider Stewart a Power Forward and I consider Kassian a tall young player with that potential but a grinder if nothing more. |

Just don't understand why Giroux blows on shootouts. Maybe it's an all round confidence issue with this team. A guy like Oshie has ice in his veins and goes in there to finish the job - 3flyerkids
Do you think his lack in shootouts will affect his trade value? |

Isn't Giroux something like 1-12 in shootouts this year? With the type of skill he there is no reason he should be that bad. I really don't understand it. I think it's def more of an issue with the shooters. I would think the Flyers save % in shootouts would be around league average this year, their shooting % has to be in the bottom 3. - PLindbergh31
I don't get it. Previously he was the one guy that was money showing some sweet moves. it just blows my mind he was so horrid this year. Simmonds was terrible at it previously and he was one guy that was decent. Its like they switched bodies |

Brayden Schenn can't help himself but score now. There's a couple of ways to look at it:
Glass half full: He's turning the corner and getting more offensive confidence that he'll carry into next year.
Glass half empty: He's been great ever since the games became meaningless.
Personally, I think the position change has helped. I think a new coach might help. - johndewar
Maybe its a case where we are finally seeing a healthy Read and the chemistry of 24-14-10 is really showing. I am happy with the makeup of the top 2 lines right now with 12-28-93 and 24-14-10. I really wish they could get out from under 18 and 40 stating the obvious |

18 OT/SO losses. EIGHTEEEN. there's your missed playoffs right there, spicoli. - hammarby31
Had they gotten some of those points, I still don't think they go very far in the playoffs, but it would be much more exciting to talk about than draft position. |

Sometimes people over think in the shootout. I think you saw a lot of that from G this year. I have no doubt he will be better next year. |

I just don't consider either of those guys to be all that better than Schenn or Raffl. Sure, Raffl is far from proven but right now you're getting too good of a bang for you buck with him. And if we're moving Schenn for another LW then I'm with MJL on this one. It needs to be a playmaker. |

I'm completely indifferent to their "winning" at this point, except that Pitt game on Sunday which was pretty sweet, the closest thing to the playoffs in 2015. Turning it on at the end, again, when there's no pressure, the season is over and the games are meaningless (to the Flyers) does nothing for me. Luckily, it seems like we'll get a solid player with either the #7 or #8 pick, so that works. - wolfhounds
Logically speaking I want the best shot at McDavid and the best pick possible but the fan in me watching the games can't help but root for the players to do well and win. |

RJ probably gets bought out and we deal with the smaller cap hit. Vinny, if he is willing to do the one a d done thing with another team, I think that trade goes down. We probably have throw something in(ala the Canes with Alt) but I think it will be worth it. |

It's mind boggling how hit or miss this team has been. Great at home, terrible on the road. Great against top teams, terrible against bottom feeders. It doesn't make any sense! |
