Not as huge from LA. They don't have the cap space. Which is why you offer sheet both players at the same time and force them to choose one. - Pierceme69
Term comes into play as well. Toffoli could sign a bridge deal and cash in for 7-8 mil per down the road if he turns into a top 10 winger. Why would he sign a long term offer sheet and leave money on the table?
Like I said, like the idea, doubt both players just automatically sign |

I sincerely doubt Murray cares about that in the least. He seems like the kind of GM who would take advantage of the offer sheet to make the team competitive faster. |

He could sign a bridge deal and blow his knee out and never play again. Which is why athletes take up front money any time that they can. |

I like Toffoli but if I'm dishing out big cash and giving away multiple first round picks for a RFA, not sure I pick him as the guy I do it for coming off what looks to be consecutive last place finishes.
Not sure who I would do it for to be honest.

For every PK Subban there are 10 guys who took the big money when it was available. Sports careers aren't guaranteed to be lengthy. |

The compensation for a $5.5 million offer sheet isn't multiple 1sts. Its a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. |

Ryan Johansen turned down 6 years 32 mil, and singed a 3 year 12mil deal. He's thinking long term too.. |

While i agree with the logic, i don't think Toffoli fits into that Johansen, Subban etc. category yet. |

He's not far off. Subban won the Norris after he signed and Johansen had 1 good season. |

He's not far off but he's still not in the class just yet, that's why i think his negotiations will be a little different. |

For 1.3 mil more than Hodgson though too. - sbroads24
Price tag doesn't bother me at all
Declining production does though, so I can understand why some wouldn't want him.
Like I said, I'm pretty biased BC I've always liked him... But who better to lead these kids than a guy that's the Captain of 2 of the past 4 Cup winners?
I wouldn't give up more than a 2nd for him though |

I'm signing a bridge deal if I'm Toffoli.
Either way, I am all for the idea, but it's just far from a guarantee he jumps and signs a 5.5 mil deal |

I think believing the Sabres are going to win Friday is fatalistic Buffalo sports fan nonsense. The Jackets are 13-1-1 in their last 15. 8 of those wins were against teams currently in the playoffs. The Sabres have only won 9 games on the road all season long. |

If we were closer to the playoffs maybe. In 2 years he might be done though |
