I'm fine with resigning Sbisa, but the most I could have tolerated would've been 2.5 and that with a very bitter taste in my mouth. His level of play is not high enough for 3.6. I like Sbisa and I think he has some potential but this could go very badly

Is Bieksa ok at 4.6?

I will repeat I think Sbisa is our 4 th best Dman.

Both you and I have absolutely no idea what was discussed in negotiations, who they are targeting, or who they will move.

So the overall picture is they have Edler Tanev and Sbisa locked up for 13.2 mil.that is fantastic.

Look at the overall picture.

I cant help but agree with this. Comparing our cap hit of our Top 4 Dmen to other teams Top 4, Its a bargain.

Completely agree. Dorsett would have gotten more in FA (probably 3). Did everyone think he would be signed for 2 mil? Sbisa is a very solid 5/6 who can wheel and is still growing as a Dman. Put him with the right partner and he could play in he 4 spot.
- kevingram

Sbisa is better than Weber and Bieksa that makes him our # 4

Is Bieksa ok at 4.6?
- VANTEL

What was Bieksa's play like when he was signed to that contract?

You want to look at the big picture?

The Canucks have 66 million locked up in 10 forwards and 2 goalies and 5 Dmen next season.

That leaves 5 million to sign 6 players including a 4th line C, a ~20 G scorer a 5/6 D and depth players.

If the standard has been set at 2.6 for a 4th liner and 3.6 for a bottom pairing D, this doesn't bode well for the rest of the players.

The big picture sucks right now. We have 5 dmen making 3.6+ per season and none of them are legit offensive guys.

And basically no money to spend on FA's or trades unless someone with a NTC gets moved.

When was the last time Dorsett was playing 4 th line? He has played now for at least the last 20-30 games on the 3 rd line. He is very similar to
Hansen , so let's drop this 4 th line label. We are not talking Darcy Hordichuck or Setito. Start looking at Prust Ott Neal type and look at their salaries.

Stop looking at Bieksa 4 years ago and start looking at the last two years. Who do you prefer right now, and going forward. Bieksa or Sbisa? Would you prefer Franson at 5.5 mil or Sbisa at 3.6?

Tank for that #1 overall next season by default because we can't afford to put a full team on the ice? 4th line will be made up of cap floor nobodies playign 2mins a game

I can live with the Dorsett contract but Sbisa's is absolutely a dead weight. Whether or not he eventually earns that money is one thing, but as of right now it doesn't look good

Simmer down junior, free agency doesn't start tomorrow. A lot can happen between now and July 1st or at the draft.

If it comes down to playing Stanton and Weber over Sbisa and Bieksa for a savings of close to 6 million I will pick the pooptier pairing and use that 6 mil elsewhere

I think the team will be fine realistically but I do think that these deals are above market price and in a year or two these deals will be a pain in the ass.

Some of the same people were complaining about Hansen/ Higgins making 2.5 and being 40 pt guys but are applauding these moves for guys who have had a lot less of an impact other than hits.

You guys should worry about the team come October, so many things could happen between now and then.
