When was the last time Dorsett was playing 4 th line? He has played now for at least the last 20-30 games on the 3 rd line. He is very similar to
Hansen , so let's drop this 4 th line label. We are not talking Darcy Hordichuck or Setito. Start looking at Prust Ott Neal type and look at their salaries.

Stop looking at Bieksa 4 years ago and start looking at the last two years. Who do you prefer right now, and going forward. Bieksa or Sbisa? Would you prefer Franson at 5.5 mil or Sbisa at 3.6?

Dorsett is 14th for forwards in average ice time per game. I like Dorsett but he is a 4th liner by definition that there are 9 other forwards who are better than him night in a night out. Nothing wrong with that, he is an excellent 4th liner but he is having a career year and will not be improving over the next 4 years imo. Pay him for his services but don't get locked down for 4 years.

You say don't look at Bieksa 4 years ago but you were comparing him to Bieksa 7 years ago.....
I prefer Bieksa to Sbisa now.
I would prefer neither Franson or Sbisa at those salaries and think on the open market Franson will get closer to 6 and Sbisa would of gotten maybe 1.5-2.

I look at it as 3 young Dmen locked up for at least 4 years, you guys need to do less complaining.

3 of your top 6 Dmen secured for 13.2 mil per is a hell of a deal. I know all the GMs on here are appalled but their is a real NHL GM who lives the game that thinks this is a good deal.

While I do think 3.6 caphit is tad high for him he is worth more than that range, come on...I can see 3 mil handed out to him in FA easy

How many 4 th liners are sent out to cover Sidney Crosby the whole playoff, and succeed.

He is not the teams best scorer, he chips in, he instigates, he frustrates teams, he protects his teammates, he fights, he hits. He is a role player and worth every penny

It was Edler for Simmonds. I still regret that not getting done.

On a different subject, some (a lot) of Leaf fans were making fun of Ottawa at the beginning of the year and look at them now

Toronto at the bottom of the league, again, and the Sens nearing 100 points and a playoff spot. If only the Leafs could draft and trade like the B. Murray

My choices are:
MVP: Daniel - leading point scorer, should get recognized. Miller would be number two, honourable mention for his solid play and stealing a game here and there (San Jose comes to mind).
Best D-man: Edler. Tanev is a complimentary piece. Hamhuis would have been my second choice for his overall play.
Most Exciting: Henrik. The guy has mad skill with the puck and watching his passes you realize how awesome this guy really is... I think people take his skill for granted.
Unsung: Hansen has shown he improved his skill level, pretty hard to do. I think this guy has just gotten better... Burrows would be number two. He goes from five goals to almost twenty and not playing with hank and dank. Miller deserves a mention for his steady play and being controversy free.

It was Edler for Simmonds. I still regret that not getting done.

I was listening to an interview from I think Benning on 1040 and he was asked about Utica and who might be coming up. Jensen was notably absent but he mentioned Shinkaruk, Conacher, Gaunce and also how good their D is

It was actually 2 seasons ago before Edlers NTC had kicked in and Simmonds had not had a twenty goal season.
