I was listening to an interview from I think Benning on 1040 and he was asked about Utica and who might be coming up. Jensen was notably absent but he mentioned Shinkaruk, Conacher, Gaunce and also how good their D is
- bezz44

I think Shink and Sven have now passed Jensen.

It was actually 2 seasons ago before when Edlers NTC had kicked in and Simmonds had not had a twenty goal season.

If you are going to make accusations about me you may want to get the facts right

- VANTEL

My point is your opinions of this team have changed dramatically over the last 6 months.

On a different subject, some (a lot) of Leaf fans were making fun of Ottawa at the beginning of the year and look at them now

Toronto at the bottom of the league, again, and the Sens nearing 100 points and a playoff spot. If only the Leafs could draft and trade like the B. Murray

- LeftCoaster

Ottawa is going to be exciting for years to come. Lazar, Zibanejad, Karlson, Turris, Hammond

I think it's difficult to compare Dorsett's salary to those that were signed two plus years ago. Every season the market changes and it's usually in the players favour. The cost for players escalates like everything else.

Folks need to start comparing contracts signed in the same calendar year. Late season contracts like Dorsett’s can be compared to new contracts signed during the free agent frenzy, over the summer, and at the start of the 2015-2016 season.

Too early to say that these deals are high. Let’s see how the summer shakes out.

When was the last time Dorsett was playing 4 th line? He has played now for at least the last 20-30 games on the 3 rd line. He is very similar to
Hansen , so let's drop this 4 th line label. We are not talking Darcy Hordichuck or Setito. Start looking at Prust Ott Neal type and look at their salaries.

Stop looking at Bieksa 4 years ago and start looking at the last two years. Who do you prefer right now, and going forward. Bieksa or Sbisa? Would you prefer Franson at 5.5 mil or Sbisa at 3.6?

- VANTEL

Agreed.
Dorsett brings credibility to the Canucks in the grit dept. and heart. The guy is skilled enough to chip in offensively and drop the gloves on guys who overstep with the team.

Sbisa is getting better all year. He was our number two guy when all the injuries struck and acquitted himself well. Brings solid physical play to the mix and will improve over time.

Both those guys got the money they deserve based on performance and future expectations.

Who needs a NTC when you are signed to above market value...... okay I couldn't help I will join the positivity train.

Sbisa for Norris in 2016!!!

- belcherbd

Ferraro just said on 1040 that he'd have signed Dorsett to four years 10 million, he also said you probably have to go slightly above to keep him from going to free agency...it's a fair deal for both.

Defensemen are hard to come by in the West with all the injuries, Sbisa is high for me but look around the league's top six dmen, on every team, and 20 of them will have a guy making similar dollars for similar stats and effectiveness.

Just another quick update with respect to the Play-off Pool. Thus far I have the following people interested:

Zogg
Nucker
Bezz
SteveKariya
Alex F
Gullzy
Vantel
VanCity
VancouverHockeyGuy
Marwood - maybe
Makita - maybe
SMP
Kaptaan
Petrosexual
The Kuze
Linden_4_Captain
Scooby Doo
PanBak

Please let me know in case I missed anyone, and if there are still others who want to join. I think, due to the logistics involved (and the number of people we have), we might not be able to do a standard draft but will have to make it a box-draft or an alternative would be to each pick, say 20 players who you think are going to get the most points through the playoffs (There may be some overlap of people picking the same players but I've been in these types of pools before and it's extremely rare for anyone to have the same roster -especially when picking 20-25 players).

In the meantime, though, if you have any suggestions, please feel free to pass them on to me or Nucker.

P.S. tentatively I feel that Monday should be the cut-off date, so we can start inputting the data etc

That is because the teams style has changed in the last 6 months . Remember the fight against Boston in 2012 when Henrik couldn't get off the ice fast enough? How about when Daniel took 16 punched to the head by Marchand who is 6 inches smaller and never laid a hand on him? How about Lungo Kesler Burrows Kesler taking more dives than our Olympic dive team? Proud moments all of them.

This is the first year the leadership is joining scrums, crashing nets , hitting , fighting back. This is a team and style that I am proud of.

That's why I changed , because we aren't the laughing stock of the league anymore.

Lol 1.5-2??! Wow, I mean I know it's easy to undervalue a player if you don't like them but just wow
- MaWLz

We will never know but I don't think teams line up to sign bottom pairing D in the offseason.

Russell signs 2 year extension as a 26 year old 2 years 2.6 million and has 4 goals 30 assists and is much better at D.

Dekeyser resigns 2 year as a 25 year old 2 years 2.187 and has 2 G 29 A and is better at D.

Ryan ellis resigned at 2.5 over 4 years....

Sbisa was basically signed to the same deal as Fowler...... 4 million over 3 years

So are you saying Tanev should get 2.6 I think he has 2 goals 18 assist less than Dekeyser and Russell

Hank got off the ice to avoid a penalty. That idiot cherry manipulated the situation and lies about what was happening to discredit the Sedins.

You guys should worry about the team come October, so many things could happen between now and then.

2015 Playoffs

Man, the hysteria on here after two decent extensions. I would suggest that Benning might have some clue as to what he is doing.
F*ck me, we just made the playoffs and I come here to find it's like some Real Housewives end of season freak out session!!
