Getzlaf, Perry, Doan, Toews, just a few examples of not so small players that Backes has fought or "picked on." They are top players on their respective clubs and it's Backes' job to shut them down. If he can goat them into a fight that's 5 less minutes without a top player on the ice. - Corey Harvey

Looks like Kruger is out tonight
Looks like Wild are resting everyone tonight so the Preds will probably win
Makes the two points up for grabs even more important

You said he only picks on small players and that's why he's cheap. My statement proved yours otherwise. You wish you had him. What fourth line caliber player do the hawks have playing top line tonight? Is Toews really that scared that he needs a body guard every time we meet? |

I agree. If Nashville finds away to lose that one, they are in trouble. |

Marian Hossa could probably bench press a car. He could be a bodyguard for Putin.
Toews and Hossa carry bad players so the Hawks can roll scorers on all four lines instead of stacking one, not to "protect" Toews and Hossa. With a healthy Kane and a productive Bryan Bickell (I realize that could be an oxymoron), Brandon Saad would be on that top line, and he's only fourth line caliber on the '02 Red Wings. Oh yeah, and he doesn't fight. |

Only and mostly are two different words. Check my post.
You always have to worry about a player that takes liberties when another is down or turned around. Especially when that player is a good player, he has a target on his back. Just like Tarasenko, Steen, JS have.
I can ask Toews if he's scared for you. I think you know the answer to that question... |

Take three far's out of your last sentence and I'll be closer to agreeing...
I'd take Backes on my team that's for sure. Just not as a C. |

No way. Carcillo is well in front of him. As is your boy Steve Ott. He's only playing to stir poop up. He's brutal. Don't forget about John Scott, Raffi Torres, Cooke...
You love to hate Shaw. There's many players that are easy to hate when not on your team.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jaden as the next captain. He may need a few years but he has the potential. - Corey Harvey
I have no problem with Backes as captain, he gets plenty of respect not just from his peers but from the staff as well. The after the whistle stuff? I don't know what you guys are watching but that's hockey. I guess if you're a Hawk fan you don't see it too much because by and large they're a bunch of high-steppers.
If I had to chose the captain though I'd go with Petro. Schwartz definitely has potential. |

Ooops I mispoke earlier then. If carcillo is playing Backes wont be in the top two dirtiest players playing tonight. |

I just don't get why they would handicap Toews and Hossa the majority of the time with a player that doesn't help either of them. I was joking about him being scared. He doesn't make the lines.

I'm not sure who you're referring to as a handicap. Hawk fans like to say Versteeg is a terrible player that has no business being on a top line, but 1) he's not THAT terrible and 2) he's certainly not there for protection. Who is this mystery 4th liner that you keep saying plays with Toews and Hossa? |

In the recent past, this season and seasons before, the hawks have put everyone from Brandon Bollig, Dan Carcillo, and Bryan Bickell to name a few on their top line against the Blues. I don't think Versteeg is a terrible player at all. |

The Kings are officially ELIMINATED.
I truly thought they would sneak in.
Blues beat the Hawks, Win the Division, and the Kings are booted from the Playoffs all in 1 night.
(frank)ing hell this is a GOOD NIGHT!!!! |
