Even if the PENS beat the Islanders, Ottawa can overtake them and place them in 8th place facing the RANGERS.

Ottawa doesn't play until 7:00pm same start time for us, so the PENS will EITHER be FIGHTING TO STAY OUT OF 8th (Not bad) or FIGHTING TO GET IN THE PLAYOFFS!

Honestly, Where the PENS were in the standing a week or two ago it was very improbable that they would have ANYTHING to play for.

I for one, think its a positive that the PENS and Coaching won't even be thinking about resting players and which ones as their minds will be totally focused on not being taken out of the playoffs, I would highly doubt that "Major" restings for players will occur. But, never the less, it cannot be argued that it would have been better if they had already clinched it and were showing rosters for both NY and BUFF with 4-5 guys resting and backup goalies showing their stuff. I doubt anyone would disagree that this turn of events is at the least helpful.

I wonder what the fascination with that organization has been concerning the NHL and Bettman? I know phoenix is one of the fastest growing cites in the US, which is a lot of untapped potential, but it's the dessert and in southern. For years, other cities that could hold a team have clamored for one, but rather than allowing this "experiment" move and be done with, they've done everything in their power to try and resurrect them. That's why there is so much "conspiracy theory" floating around, since bettmen has openly stated that he would love to see McEchiel in a market for growth, then magically changed to draft odds in the same year.

Just let them move and be done with it, b/c a generational talent may help a little, but if what they are displaying is the pipeline of that team, they're going to have to Pittsburgh it for 5 seasons in order to get enough talent to compete. That's the one plus I'm seeing with the sabres, our young kids look tough and hungry, so a generational talent would be a huge step in the right direction

On the bright side, we won't get many gift goals tomorrow as long as we play Bob (who we should). He should shut the door for us. Last game was only close due to Ward playing like a beer league goaltender (which he does most nights).

If gerbe's no wuss, then he wouldn't need bogosian to take a needless penalty. It's all about picking your spots. There's a time and place for it. Up 3-0 with 3 min to go? kick his ass. Tied 2-2 mid-way through the third in a playoff game? Probably want to keep your gloves on.

Done watching this, it is painful....

The Islanders have been so inconsistent and playing without confidence, I doubt they are the type of team that wants to rest its stars or not put their foot down, they don't want to play this way heading into the playoffs as well dropping in the standings. I really believe they will fight the Pens, I don't see them lying down.

Not saying that they will be "Ottawa" desperate but they will play hard.
