To be honest I'm having a hard time chirping the flames thread because I haven't thought about them in 10+ years. I have no idea what they have been up to.

Think your right about Shawn Matthias Carol, it will suck to see him go for nothing. Even if we manage to deal him at the end of the season or draft, the return won't be there. Poor asset management Sir Benning.

Should have traded him. He was overrated here after his shooting percentage way way too high...but fancy stats! Only witches and blacks use those!

What if it's only one series? I don't like judging a player based off of 5-7 games instead of a whole season. Luck plays a factor when you only use a handful of games to judge a player.

If he scores 3 goals in 6 games vs the Flames I wouldn't suddenly want to pay him 4M per.

I'm going to write a little piece on what people are missing about Matthias. Sure, you'll laugh, but nobody will be laughing when he raises the conn smythe.

To be fair I know how you feel ...I have little hatred for the canucks right now ...when they were good for a couple years and had a shot at the cup I hated ...now not so much

Do you rely on fancy stats to evaluate all aspects of the players and team. If so I just saw on the flames blog where they rated quite low in many categories and yet here they are as Canada's new Cinderalla's team.

Not meaning to be a d!ck, I never check any stats other than W/L. I like to evaluate by watching the team and players play.

And this also doesn't mean I think you or anyone else sould be critisized because that's your performance metrics you use....it's all voodoo type sh!t to me.

60s and 70s HST was brilliant, afterwords, he was pretty hard to read.

As an aside, Ralph Steadman, the artist that did all of the illustrations for HST, does the labels for Flying Dog Ale (Colorado Brewery) and for a Cali winery (can't remember which). If you are a fan of his art style they make pretty cool souvenirs.
