Yeah, some of the stuff they do so that people watching from home can win too. People complained that they get left out even though they're watching from home, so they changed it a few years ago.

As this long journey has come to its final leg, we as truly informed Buffalo Sabres Fans have been informed, educated on so many issues. Most fan bases only berate our fans due to their ignorance. That's not an insult, it just is a fact that in WNY we are very "Canadian" influenced and many of us have grown up with hockey in our blood. Some of us had fathers that let us stay up till 3am watching the Western Teams in the early and mid 80's because that's what Canadian households do. Most the country has no idea the influence having CBC on our Cable package and its effect on our values. We all grew up knowing what HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA was, and could hum the theme song, my father would prop me up on the roof to turn our antenna in order to pull in French stations with the Canadians or Quebec.

My point is that we have a unique, informed, and passionate fan base. It is the most avid fan base for Hockey in the US.

As far as looking at our plight, we can look at it from a positive view or a negative view.

I prefer to look through a Positive view, for me its much more fun. If you are a positive person then you notice these facts:

We are currently in 30th place with a 2pt cushion.

We are playing one of the best teams we could play, (teams that or clinched or horrible avoided)

We have a very deep prospect pool and a very bright future, picking 1st or 2nd would rapidly speed up our development and add Excitement and Enthusiasm to a New Level!

If we become one of the 28 teams that doesn't get one of these players, we do not lose our tremendously deep talent pool, we gain another TOP FIVE prospect, (STROME) for me and an exciting group of young talent to root and cheer for.

If you have a negative point of view things look bleak and ugly. Its difficult to actually find yourself here due to the amazing position we have placed ourselves in with 2 games left against solid talent. Not unbeatable talent, just solid talent.

We will win out and play our way out of this amazing opportunity.

Arizona will not gain another point, ( I actually believe this but I did see the Stars destroy Anaheim with a shutout)

Its almost over, I for one am glad we are in a position to see our dreams come true. It really could be a week of dread were we have no chance at getting one of them other than a weak chance at a lottery pick. That is not the case, and for that I am grateful.

Amen! Thanks for bringing up memories of rabbit ears on the TV picking up a staticy channel 9 (I think?) to watch HNIC. Living a block from the lake in Derby it was a bonus to get those extra Canadian stations. I knew the Canadian National anthem as well as ours because of the stations signing off at night.
