WOW
If Pittsburgh losses its next game it looks like Malkin could be available this summer.
Wonder what he would cost?
Nashville Or Florida potential suitors
Clearly the whole 2 superstar model isn't working out. I blame the salaries. |

Unbelievable, the Penguins destiny is now out of their hands. If Ottawa wins against Philadelphia, then it doesn't matter what Pitt does it's final game. They will be out of the playoffs. If anyone told you that would be the case before the season began, you'd probably laugh your snout off. Well, time to start laughing/crying either way lol - Zogg
It's still in their hands, just win tomorrow, Boston is the one that has no control. |

Hmm, interesting, I was just watching Sportscentre and that's what they indicated. That Pitt would need help from other teams (namely, Ottawa losisng their last game). We'll have to see if we can't get that confirmed. Still, who would have thought it would come down to the last game of the season either way. Yikes, Pitt is simply not getting it done. Too much of their money is invested in their top two players, which doesn't seem to be a very realistic model for success.
As I mentioned a few times, Canucks have a steal in terms of the Sedins contracts, that is, as compared with other teams and their top players |

I think that if Pits wins tomorrow they make the playoffs no matter what anyone else does. Still, it's crazy that they are in this position.
I thought the Erhoff signing was great, but maybe they hired the wrong gm. He has made some pretty puzzling moves. |

To completely sort it out for everyone:
Home ice for Canucks if:
1) Van gets any points on Sat.
OR
2) Both Van (in regulation) and Calgary (in any fashion) lose in Sat.
Calgary gets home ice if:
1) Van loses in regulation AND Calgary wins in any fashion, Regulation, overtime or SHOOTOUT (as then points and ROW would be tied but Cgy has 5 pts to our 4 in the season series) |

Pitt is still 8th place. Boston is the team looking from the outside. If Boston loses against Tampa tomorrow, it doesn't matter what Pitt or Ott do, Pitt will still squeak in.
Lets's face it, Tampa will likely mop the floor with Boston. |

Agreed. There have been some puzzling roster moves as well in terms of setting the line-up. Some very strange combinations (Winnik on the top line?? wtf?). I guess it's do or die, either way, but yah, what a situation. Who could of possibly thought the Pens would be in such a position. Crazy stuff. |

I love the Sedins and they definitely more than earned their contracts this season, but I wouldn't call them a steal.
But right now, who gives a fck. It's playoffs. If the Sedins bring their feisty new play style into the post season, we could be in for a show. |

Philly wouldn't throw a mean nothing game to them to knock a hated rival out of the playoff picture, would they? |

If Malkin stayed true to his word a few years ago and hasn't changed his mind, if he's traded...he walks and goes to the khl. Only trade I could see that keeps him in North America is If he goes to Washington to play with Ovenchicken. - I-own_da-Northwest
I think whatever happens, Pittsburgh has some serious issues to address. The only real positive I can see is, if they can sign Babcock to try and right the ship and get them back to elite status. Of course, who knows what Babcock is thinking - is he up for the challenge? most likely. But things are still up in the air as to where he goes or if he even goes anywhere. A lot of variables involved in a final decision. |

*Pool Update*
Last call for anyone that wants to get in the Play-Off pool (we currently have about 17 people).
We now need to figure out the type of draft/format (Nucker and I) will discuss what is most feasible but yet challenging) and will outline in the main board (sorry to the rest of you for taking up the time and space - I promise we will try and resolve asap).
We'll probably use Office Pools (which I believe costs $25 but I can put up the cash (and reimbursed accordingly) - still not sure if we'll have this as a money pool or for free. I'll talk to Nucker about that as well. I figure Tuesday morning should be the cut-off date in getting all the rosters.
Cheers - Zogg
Should use pickuphockey.com i believe it's still free.. That's what me and my buddies always use

I don't understand why Calgary would have home ice advantage if they win theor last game and the Canucks lose their last game. They would be tied at 99 points, but Vancouver would still have one more win. Please help. I might be tired or just dumb. |

Boston & LA out is not going to make the league happy, therefore I'm ecstatic.

I fully agree with you. Screw Bettman! I wish he would get fired. |

As it was explained to me previously. Tie breaker goes by ROW(regulation/OT wins), not overall wins. in that 1 more win we have more shootout wins than they do. our ROW is 41 and theirs is 41. If they win and we lose it will be 42-41. |

Where did you hear that? I really hope he is back for the playoffs. - sdoney
Kassign hits and fights well, and has shown some flashes of brilliance (although only on a line with the Sedins, so that doesn't say much). I seriously don't understand why he is given top 6 time. Dorsett is better than Kassian. Kassian and Dorset with Matthias in the middle makes a great checking line. |
