Where did you hear that? I really hope he is back for the playoffs. - sdoney
Kassign hits and fights well, and has shown some flashes of brilliance (although only on a line with the Sedins, so that doesn't say much). I seriously don't understand why he is given top 6 time. Dorsett is better than Kassian. Kassian and Dorset with Matthias in the middle makes a great checking line. |

Boston is out Pitt is in - Retinalz
Gotcha. Too, too bad the Jackets aren't near the mark. That would have made the playing field even more interesting than it is now.

Hmm, interesting, I was just watching Sportscentre and that's what they indicated. That Pitt would need help from other teams (namely, Ottawa losisng their last game). We'll have to see if we can't get that confirmed. Still, who would have thought it would come down to the last game of the season either way. Yikes, Pitt is simply not getting it done. Too much of their money is invested in their top two players, which doesn't seem to be a very realistic model for success.
As I mentioned a few times, Canucks have a steal in terms of the Sedins contracts, that is, as compared with other teams and their top players - Zogg
Anyone that calls Darren Dreger anything other than a pos hack turd, isn't credible, imo, and that includes TSN... |

Should use pickuphockey.com i believe it's still free.. That's what me and my buddies always use - MaWLz
Thanks Mawlz, Nucker and I will check out - it does look like a decent pool manager (and of course it's free! ha).
We hope to have the final details ironed out in the next few days. Again, the deadline for inputting your roster will be Tuesday Morning (before noon Pacific time). It looks like we are going to go with the box-format pool (20-25 selections, which will require some astute drafting ), but it should nonetheless be enjoyable, as you still have to pick the players which you think are going to go deep into the play-offs.
If anyone feels there is a better option than the box format please let Nucker or I know and we'll go from there. Please note, however, we are down to a few days to get things up and running so not sure how much options we have. |

I still think Lack starts Game 1, albeit with a short leash. - PetrolSexual
I think Miller must start against the Oilers tomorrow or he won't have enough prep to step into the playoffs, if required of him.
I'm not sure I agree with starting Lack in game #1 or not. He has played amazing down the stretch and definitely deserves a chance, but Miller was brought in at $6 million per season to do what Luongo couldn't (although I still think Lou is amazing goalie and the return we got in the trate for him was ludicrous). |

You go with the goalie that will have the best chance to win you the game. Not the one you pay more. Lack has been mostly solid since Millers injury. Plus playing Lack will almost ensure Miller gets traded in off season. We need to dump that salary. |

As it was explained to me previously. Tie breaker goes by ROW(regulation/OT wins), not overall wins. in that 1 more win we have more shootout wins than they do. our ROW is 41 and theirs is 41. If they win and we lose it will be 42-41. - Retinalz
Yeah... I should read all of the comments before posting.

Interesting perspective on trading Miller in the off season. While I would agree with you that Lack could be the bonafide #1 going forward, I don't think Markstrom is good enough to be the backup. He's great for the AHL and as a call up. I don't know if we would get enough back in a trade for Miller, unless it was to bottom team like Carolina. I don't want to see the Canucks lose Miller for basically nothing like with Luongo.
Just so y'all know, I'm originally from Vancouver but currently living in Ontario. That being said, I am keeping close tabs on the Canucks' prospects in the OHL. Cole Cassels (Oshawa Generals) is going to be an amazing centreman for the Canucks; probably better than Horvat. Any questions on prospects out this way, let me know! |

Anybody have video of the hits that knocked Max Domi and Mitch Marner out of the playoffs?
I have been trying to find them.

Unless we can get rid of bieksa and/or higgins, we are too salary strapped for it to be worth keeping him. If our cap issues will force a tank due to neing AHL calibre players making up 1 1/2 of our lines, we may as well trade miller, suite up 4 lines of nhl players and play markstrom like we did lack this year. Only to give Lack a break. |

No problem, figured I'd let ya know. Better to have the same product for free then putting up the cash yourself.. We've used the site for years and never had a problem, I highly recommend |

Miller was not brought in to do what Lu couldn't. Lu was traded after his situation with his wife and a series of grievances with management forced a trade. Miller was brought in to ensure that we had competitive, veteran goaltending. Miller certainly did that and with his injury, we got to see Lack prove himself. Miller is hardly an asset. He's a solid goalie getting paid a fair, if somewhat elevated, salary. If we trade him for anything at all and recoup that cap space, his tenure here will have been a success.
The playoffs could change the situation, but I think Lack has shown enough this year to make him the number 1 for next year. Markstrom can either be the back up or we can find some journeyman to fill in. If the cap space can get us an upgrade on D, I'd be all for it. |

Rhetorical question of the day...why do reporters discuss past season's records as if they hold any relevance to the team that is playing today?
Why pretend it matters what the Canucks playoff record going back 3 years is?? Different coach, different players, different opponents to say nothing of the somewhat random nature of sports in general.
I've never understood that one. - dbot

I don't think Miller get's traded any time soon (barring some sort of dramatic temper tantrums played out in the media). If anything, I see him and Lack sharing the crease more next year and (hopefully) trading Miller in 2017/18 in the final year of his contract. In saying that, I would not be at all surprised if he finishes his contract, when any of our backups/prospects could/should be ready to take over full time. |

I thought Miller had a NMC. Besides he is on a three year contract which is a transition contract where he would be the starter in year one, share year two and backup in year three. |

Please play Kassian ...if you could put him on the same time as bieksa ...even better ...both great sound bites ...love to have drinks with either ...but defensively they are trains wrecks .... |

No, he'll be the starter as long as he's in vancity. Lack will have to beat him out for the no.1 spot. Unlikely though. Miller can be moved at some point likely trade deadline time or after next season in the off season...
He'll start the playoffs, unless he shiites the bed against the coilers. |

Miller has a limited NTC. His only desire is to play for any California team and I think maybe Arizona so he can remain close to his actress wife. (Though she is currently in Vancouver raising their baby)
San Jose is the only team that stands out that could be interested. |
