Nope... Green maybe, but I wouldn't overpay grossly. Maybe 4-5M. I don't want to overpay when trading for O'Rielly or Kessel. The offer sheets are the most promising. - thatsapickle
The offer sheets is where you could really damage your future. Those draft picks could turn out to be the players you round out your bottom 6 with in the future. Especially since you will be paying McEichel, Reinhart, Risto and Kane big money eventually. Not to mention Zemgus...
I think there is someone else GMTM is looking at. Someone that might only cost a 2nd from a cap strapped team (Patrick Sharp, Loui Eriksson, etc)
As far as O'Reilly I wouldn't go more than the late 1st and maybe Grigorenko
Kessel would be a very interesting add and its been going back and forth on him on these boards for a while. I am for him others are not (2015 late first and perhaps the 2016 first)
But there will be at least one more top 6 forward on this roster come opening day besides McEichel that will be a draft day trade IMO.
PS I really miss cap geek

I definitely think GMTM is going to make some big move, probably something we aren't expecting. Hopefully it isn't something that divides everyone, but then again no one will ever be truly happy until we win a cup.

Anyone have an opinion on keeping Lindback and adding another capable "backup" to play them as a tandem? I think Lindback played admirably and we should score more next year.....technically. |

Pekke Rinne who Lindback backed up said that Lindback is the type of goalie that needs to be a number 1 without having to look over his shoulder. Personally I would like a little better starting day goalie but I would be alright with going with him and Johnson next season with Lindback being the true number 1.
I really like Dubnyk as the starter... |

I think with new coach who actually implements an offensive system Lindback will be exposed as the true goalie the rest of the league has already seen. If Nolan is gone and Irbe stays he might work, but I really believe it was Nolans trap style that made every goalie we put in look good. |

Every goalie the Sabres started faced a lot of rubber. The real question is how many of those shots were quality scoring chances? |

I like the way Lindback played. Its just that his sample size with the sabres is relatively small, so i dont 100% trust him yet. I think many goalies need consistant work to be decent, which is why i always questioned Ruff starting Enroth every 15 games and then sitting him anoher 15 because we lost....

That may be true but there is no denying he played very well for us. We left him on an island a lot and he stepped up. |

I was mostly joking but you never know. Weak FA market and not too much going on the trade block either. A bad bounce here a key injury there and it could be another bottom 5 finish.
The team is still very young, they'll be far more entertaining to watch next year but i expect the season will still be plagued with rookie mistakes/sophomore slumps. |

Not sure who's available. But may be veteran backup who doesnt mind playing 12-15 games/ year? |

I think that with the change of the 2016 draft lotto we wont seeing many 1st round picks being moved. Could be interesting to see how it turns out if the sabres improve yet still land a top 3 pick |

Grew up Hertel and Niagara. Went to West Hertel. Last year they had 9th grade. |
