I think the ball is entirely in Babcock's court. It might be money or it would be the fact that he sees Detroit on the back end of the talent pool compared to what they once were. I know this might sound silly to some people but it's gonna be awhile until they can ever replace a Nick Lidstrom. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are close to being done. Everything else needs serious time to develop to this level. They have youth but they also have to bring it along.
