How about teams like Arizona, Dallas, or Colorado as possible trade partners for AMac.
Those teams look pretty slim on blueline.
If not AMac at least Grossmann |

Just the results. Billy Daly sitting at a desk, flipping over cards counts down from 14-1 - Jsaquella
I forgot how it worked when I watched before. Wouldn't the suspense be nonexistent if say they get to card 7 and its a nj devil logo. They run down the restvofvthe picks but at that moment we know we've won? |

The "best" team to win the lottery was NJ, in 2011. I forget how they did that one. |

Here's an interesting trade that just popped up in my head.
To Carolina: 7th overall and AMac
To Philadelphia: 5th overall and John Michael Liles
Amac> Liles. Liles has one year left on his deal at just under 4 million. Gets us a stop gap defender at a decent price and the Canes get top 4 defensive help that they desperately need and still get to pick at 7 where they can grab Werenski without giving up all that much.
At 5 we'd be guaranteed one of Hanifin, Provorov or Marner and be in a better cap situation. - hereticpride
I would do it. I'm really sick of half the posts in these threads being about McDonald. |

They want more upside so they'd take the Schenns over the 7th pick? That just doesn't make sense to me.
Plus they already have the Staals and Lindholm. I don't think BSchenn is a player they'd be in on. - hereticpride
The only problem with all the carolina scenarios is that ron francis is now the gm and not rutherford and he is as committed to the draft as hextall and has loaded up on picks. no more easy pickens from the canes, francis will be very protective of his picks and avoid all bad contacts, he already has semin with no place to go |

Couturier was the only forward in the league this year to play 1000+ even strength minutes and be sub-40% OZstarts - Jsaquella

Berube pointed out that there are other players -- Patrice Bergeron being the most notable -- who carry very heavy defensive burdens with lots of head-to-head minutes against top lines and a majority defensive zone starts but still find ways to score or at least end the shift in the offensive zone.
I don't entirely accept that explanation but there is a bit of truth to it in that I believe Couturier is still capable of doing more offensively even with his role as it is.
After Simmonds went dow, the late season lineup switch to put Brayden Schenn (now at RW) back with Couturier and Matt Read (at LW) produced some promising results. Schenn posted eight points (four goals, four assists) over the final six games. Couturier had at least one point in each of the final six games (two goals, five assists, seven points).
If you recall, Schenn's best stretch of the season actually came while playing (at LW) with Couturier and Read (at RW) earlier this season before being moved up to the Giroux line and not producing nearly as consistently as hoped.
Schenn has said that he really has enjoyed RW and feels he sees the ice better from that side. Couturier also said he feels there's a good chemistry with Schenn on the line, especially at RW.
I suspect this topic will come up during the exit interviews. I also think there is a good chance that Schenn on Couturier's line will be penciled in as part of the plan heading into next year. - bmeltzer
not only does berube have a picture of oskar schindler on his desk, he also keeps one in his wallet. true story.

Not so much for Carolina.
Why would then move down two places for Amac? Don't you think they'd feel the same about Hanifin, Provorov or Marner? |
