You guys realize McDavid is going to the Yotes? Just plan on Eichel.
(Unless you have someone that can get to Bettman...) - whipper334
Dude, we've pretty much come to terms that it's going to be Eichel and I'm personally ecstatic no matter who we get. You're not telling us something we don't already know when it comes to the joke of a lottery. If we somehow win the lottery, really great, but we're not counting on it.
Also, (frank) Bettman |

Man, in three years we went from having zero centers to having a glut. - grand-magus
That was our biggest issue after 07 for years too.
That and no franchise defensemen |

Jets are my sleeper pick. If they can continue to get the goaltending i think they can take anaheim. |

Calgary are the dark horse in this year's playoffs. I don't see the Jets getting past round 1. Although their small building may give them tremendous home-ice advantage because of noise, I think they only win at home. That series could go 7 games easily though. |

IMO they should push for Thornton in the offseason.
They have depth, and an excellent back end. They need an elite playmaker though |

Nah. Look at Ottawa after they traded Chara. Pretty solid run for several years, a cup birth and still finding a way to make the playoffs more often than not. Even if he turns a corner by leaps and bounds, he wasn't doing it here. So (frank) him. |

I like Calgary's chances to upset as well but in the even that both progress to play each other in the 2nd round i think Winnipeg has the edge. Wouldn't surprise either way though. |

Winnipeg faces the same challenges we do, can they get players on that level to waive their NTC? A deep run would certainly help |

I think he was doing it here, just on a 30th place team. Either way whatever. I just am very skeptical of Murray's "eye" right now.
Even this past draft, his 2nd rounders both had pretty busy looking seasons |

I didn't say 3rd line minutes. I said checking role.
Take all the important faceoffs, match up against top lines. It's what he did in the WJC.
In 2 years
McDavid - 19 minutes all purpose
Reinhart -17 minutes, defensive draws, matchups
Grigorenko - 15 minutes, offensive zone heavy, PP
Schaller - 8 minutes
Larsson- on Reinhart's wing
Girgensons on McEichel wing playing the Dustin Brown role - sbroads24
If Girgensons is on line 1 in two years, this team is still hurting. |

I think the one that really stands out is the Karabacek pick. I don't know what was so appealing that he needed to be a 2nd rounder for us. I have high hopes for Martin though. |

Bryan Bickell was on Chicago's top line during a cup year in the playoffs. It's all about what role they play. |

Karabacek and Cornel were very underwhelming
Martin was a 3rd looks decent so far |

Hodgson will be interesting to see if hes still here with a new coach..i find it hard to believe that his drop off is this bad. |

Kane and Girgensons would have the same role, that line would be too one dimensional, no matter who the center. |

Our esteemed blogger had a pretty good write up on Cornel, Ill wait and see on him, have a better understanding after a full year in the AHL. It kind of felt like a safe pick though. Id like to see him take a few more risks this time around.
