Sure wasn't in 2013. What makes you think this year will be different? - the_terror
yes it was 19000 Senator fans. |

Also at this juncture subban and karlsson are almost at the same points but karlsson has carte blanche to join the rush and be less defensively responsible. Subban has a very short leash and does not get the same offensive luxeries. Is it not entirely plausible that subban would be far ahead of karlsson point wise if he had the same laxieties on the blue line and was also able to join the rush? - munky123
on what (frank)ing planet are they comparable offensively............this is the first time in his career that subban is within 20pts of karlsson.
for their careers, karlsson has doubled him in goals and has almost 150 more pts.
if you're going to chalk that up to the system........then please go lick windows in another thread.
the reason that karlsson is given free reign to join the rush is that he's fast enough and talented enough to get back and cover 99% of the mistakes he makes. subban likely isn't....which is why he isnt' given the same freedom. |

No, of course not. If you're ignorant and you do something dumb like pour a beer on a dude's head, then yeah you'll get kicked out. But it's a free country, you can wear your Habs jersey wherever you want. You just aren't allowed to come in and act like a piece of s**t. - the_terror
Ok, cause i heard rumours that tampa is banning opposition jerseys from the 100 level. I guess I doesn't look good with thousands of red wing jerseys on the tv. |

Well this thread sure got out of control quickly
Well here's what I think: one group of fans is going to be eating a lot of crow after the first game Wednesday. I don't think it's going to be a close one. I think one side is going to get properly schooled. The thing is, I'm not actually sure which side. Maybe the Sens, maybe not.
One thing for sure though, I have to chuckle at all the (Habs) fans that are confidently proclaiming that the past 6-8 weeks mean NOTHING. Haha, yeah right. As noted, the Sens have been playing playoff hockey for the past 6-8 weeks. I think that's a huge advantage. Also, Hammond is as cool as a cucumber. Are they burnt out? Of course not.... their all 22 years old for God's sake!
The thing about the Sens for me is still consistency. There are two teams that could show up any given night... the team that was entirely unexceptional, but beat the Rangers and Flyers last week (who weren't trying very hard). Or the team that stormed back from 3-0 to beat the Pens. That team is potentially a Stanley Cup Champion. I'm just not sure when that team shows up? Is it only when they are facing absurd adversity? We'll see.
Frankly, my biggest concern is the quality and fairness of the (Montreal) reffing...
Anyway, may the best team win. This series is going to be awesome!

that building is going to be full of Habs fans. there's nothing the organization can do, short of banning cheering for the opposition. - DoubleDown
then why female dog about the ticket strategy? |
|
|
|
huh? i don't quite understand that logic. guys like Doughty, Weber, Subban, Suter all play big minuted and kill penalties. Karlsson doesn't kill penalties because the things he is great at aren't required on the PK. i don't think it makes him a lesser player, but he's not effective enough at that part of the game to risk injuring him on a shot block. - DoubleDown
yeah, and when you look at the numbers (yost has covered it a lot) those guys aren't any better at killing penalties than gryba, methot, borowiecki.........so why waste karlsson on the PK? |

The fact that you chose to comment on it suggests otherwise. - the_terror
I said I wouldn't mind going. I won't jump through hoops just because the team prioritizes its own fans at the expense of a great playoff atmosphere. You know, what sports is all about? |

When it comes to skating, Subban doesn't have much to envy from Karlsson. EK is quicker, but not by a huge margin like your making it sound. |

EK is like having a winger play D - let's not get carried away...hes terrible defensively...ever wonder why they had to go 20-1 and needed to get lucky with an AHL goalie to just make the playoffs?

i said that EK is given permission to rush because he's able to turn around and get back...................and then i wondered why subban isn't given the same freedom? there has to be a reason. is your coach not good enough to realize the type of weapon he (supposedly) has, or are there holes in subban's game that don't allow him to get back and cover? |

The first few posts you had i chalked your flare up to just stirring the pot, but the last few lead me to believe you have only watched sens games all season and have a very flawed take on the habs. I know you have more insight than the shiet you are posting....
And to spatso, i get you know a few things about hockey, and some of your views are out to lunch but hey so are mine some time and theres probably only a few guys on here that have the capability to talk systems or the nitty gritty about hockey. You are one of them. That said, your take on karlsson is a bit flawed as him being the best player in hockey. First off the guy is a wiz with the puck, skates like the wind and has excellent vision. But lacks in def toughness and cant pk or shadow plays for poop. Something subban can do very well. - munky123
I have thought Karlsson was the best player in hockey for several years now. In my fist tier I have Tavares, Stamkos, Karlsson, Kane and Doughty. I leave out the older guys who are now past peak and in decline (most notably Crosby).
Next year the overtime will be 3 on 3. This is when you will see these players ( and others like them dominate). Actually be a great tournament if those top players could pick two guys each plus a goalie and have at it.
So, when I say Karlsson is the best player I see him as so much more than as just a Dman. There would be better defensive players. Nobody would dispute this. But as the one guy you want on the ice in overtime, give me Karlsson every time. I think the Sens will win a Stanley Cup (not this year). And it will be because of Karlsson.

Sorry, I know the asp reference is the funny thing here, but I can't help but lol at the EK headline that forgets the Habs...
Today: "Habs getting no respect from media"
