One year later and you guys still whine about that every single day. I don't think Crosby even mentioned those crosschecks to the ref once. - rangerdanger94
I think it really was one of the pooptier things Ive seen done in hockey. And I appreciate some brutal given and take. But hitting a dude repeatedly in the back of the neck with your stick just aint cool. Its still a game at the end of the day. You don't want to hurt a guy in a life altering way. |

And I don't Staal was trying to hit Crosby in the neck. But we can have this discussion all day all year long which we do anyway. |

Spears and Cross Checks are a typical part of hockey. You see 50 of them a game and just wait to see which ones the refs arbitrarily decide to call based on their mood. Its now about doing it, its about where you hit a guy while doing it. Head and neck should be off limits.
Dubinsky already did a great job of shutting Sid down last year. He interfered with him like a mother(frank)er at every turn, but if it isn't called, cest la vie. - thickman1178
Yeah, no. For example, all 30 teams played on Saturday. There was not one spearing penalty called. |

Yeah well, Columbus sucks.
Kidding, I live in Ohio and they're my second team. Hopefully they win the lottery and get McDavid |

True Story. I don't think he wanted to hit him there the first 3 or 4 times. By literally the 500th time, I was worried that Staal was just stuck and someone needed to reboot him. |

You can't touch Hank without some dramatic fall or crash. But I would expect some counter measures. Horny being the x factor. I imagine he will take a beating if that stuff doesn't get called this series.
I'd expect LaPierre to get some type of agitator role on someone....if he actually sees the ice. The Rags were the team to run over Price, so you can expect Flower to take some hits. Might as well hit the King too. - Sell My Monkey
Dude, Hank's hair is perfect. You mess with that and you are gonna see some drama. It's close to Broadway. Save it for the stage after your hockey career, Hank. |

If Crosby doesn't assume a bent over position, those crosschecks hit the numbers. |

And Crosby didn't go to the refs freaking out that there was no call. And the NHL didn't suspend him. And the media who is so anti-anything-overphysical never mentioned it. And none of the Penguins targeted Staal as retaliation. And no people of other fan bases came storming in in disgust (like everyone did with the Byfuglien on Miller crosscheck) so maybe you guys overreacted and are still overreacting? |

The Penguins fans are literally the only people in the world that cared so much about those love taps. Crosby himself didn't even care. |

We are the underdogs. I think we can beat the Rangers If we can score at least a couple each game. Tough series for us, too many injuries. |

Why else would you be on this board? Just to throw your "hockey is a violent game" knowledge around to justify for dumb hits. - chimpira
hes on this board because he enjoys talking about hockey and other things with many of the people on here?

You know this struck me as odd because I remember going on there to see the Ranger fan reaction the only time this season I could stomach going on there. When you say other fan bases came "storming" in disgust are you suuure that's what happened?

My math may be a little off but I counted TWO people from other fan bases who made a comment about it. So to you that's EVERYONE? However, I do find it ironic how you mention that it's the Penguin fans who overreacted about something. Next time you want to spew BS make sure there isn't a way for someone to call you out on it. I can understand someone exaggerating, we all do it, but what you said wasn't even remotely close to being true. |

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, I thought all Crosby does is cry to the refs about everything that doesnt get called...you guys can't have it both ways....say all he does is cry to the refs when its needed to make your point, then say he doesn't when you need to make a point on the other end. You Ranger fans come here to a Pens blog and think you are going to change Pens fans mind on it, you are crazy. If the refs are going to allow it, then I don't see why he wouldnt keep doing it. Players are going to keep pushing things till the refs call it. I just find it funny, that Ranger fans act like he didn't have intent...it was clearly there. |

I only ask, because if Downie goes Downie for whatever reason, I don't want to hear any female doging about it...thats all. Like I said, i don't have an issue with it, the players are going to push things as far as the refs are going to let them.
The only time I see it brought up in these blogs, is when you Ranger fans come in here...honestly, I read these boards every day and that is the only time I ever see it. No one just randomly says hey...remember that time when Staal cross checked Sid in the back of a the head a few times...that was pretty cool huh. |

So you're trying to sway me on some conspiracy that 30 officials got together and the mood of the day was not call one spear. Please say yes. |
