Is it a fact that they can't trade him? Honestly, why would we want to trade him? - MJL
I think they could.
Seems like everyone else says it is impossible.
I think they could move Grossmann, Schenn, Schultz and MacDonald if they wanted to. They will have to clear some cap. They need to give them some a little wiggle room.
They have some things they need to work out to try and shape the roster moving forward. I think possible 2 dmen will be moved. |

If he has another good season, he will be seeking $5M not 3.5M. He will also want longer term. - PhillySportsGuy
If his play warrants it's what's the problem? By then they may be able to move Streit at the deadline, or in the off season.
What about if they sign him to a multi year deal, and he regresses again?
I don't think either side is wrong here, there's risks with both sides. |

I fully expect to see Morin stick next season out of camp. Who knows where Gostisbehere is after this season. Sanheim will go back to Calgary. Haag is about as murky a picture right now that they have. I don't even know what they think of him. - mayorofangrytown
man he seems raw
I don't watch him as much as you guys do but next season seems too soon
I hope I'm wrong |

Right after you prove factually that hes a top 4 Dmen. Show me the stats. - PhillaBully
I'll tell you what, if I did decide to get into that conversation with you, which would be a waste of time, I'd bring far more to the table then " what team would trade for him" to back my opinion up. |

Listen, I'm worried he won't pan out. He could come in and be completely overwhelmed. I'm just deciding on my own that he can do it. It will all play out in September and we'll see. |

I only wantched him in preseason games, and he didn't seem that raw there. Yeah, it's only preseason, but it was still encouraging to me, and clearly to Berube and Hextall who considered keeping him on the team to start the season. |

Actually for the type of players they are, and the role they played, it's a good list. |

I think as long as he has another good preseason he should be on the roster to start. They need to start getting some ELC deals on the roster to help the cap a little. |

You can't go after big names like Briere and Bryzgalov when there's no cap space. |

They like how he responds to structure. They have a bit of concern about his perceived lack of willingness to set the bar as high as possible for himself as a two-way contributor and to fall on the right side of the line between being poised and too casual -- because that's something that can't really be taught.
In a way, this was a freebie year in the AHL because his contract slid and they didn't burn a year off his ELC. Starting next year, though, they are going to want to see more rapid progress.
All in all, the feeling is that he took baby steps or lateral steps this season. They hoped for a bit more, although his defensive play did show improvement.

Bill, thoughts on Morin?
Any chance he plays for the Flyers next year in a meaningful role? |

I feel like he looked better in the beginning of the year. He seemed to be less aggressive offensively as the season went on. I remember watching him on the PP at the beginning of the year and he would rifle one after the other at the net. It was great. I stopped seeing that aggressiveness from him though. |

Also how did Friedman's season finish at Bowling Green. I think he could be a Tory Krug type for us. Less dynamic then Gostisbehere but more bite to his game
Bill,
Just out of curiosity, how do you see the prospects readiness looking to make the team on defense? Hope I worded it right. From things I have read it seems if Sanhiem can add some muscle to his frame he actually could be pushing sooner then later. |

Losing Ghost for almost the whole season and Alt for half of it must have made things harder for the defense that were left in LV. |

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought. When they had a need he never even got a mention all season. I was hopeful of at least hearing his name by season's end. When I didn't I guessed that he hadn't progressed the way they'd hoped.
As much as I'd like to watch the Phantoms, those radio/in game broadcasts can try my patience. |

So Morin seems like he could use more time to get up to the speed of the NHL, how's that? |
