VEZINA TROPHY
The top goalie as voted on by the league's 30 general managers.
The candidates: Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators; Devan Dubnyk, Minnesota Wild; Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens; Braden Holtby, Washington Capitals; Cory Schneider, New Jersey Devils; Roberto Luongo, Florida Panthers; Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins; Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings; Corey Crawford, Chicago Blackhawks.
The skinny: I wonder if Andrew Hammond will get any votes even though he only played the final quarter of the season. It was a spectacular quarter, though. The Vezina winner is a foregone conclusion with Price, for sure, in line to pick it up for the first time in his career. The intrigue lies in which two goalies the GMs decide to vote as finalists along with the Habs star. My guess would be Rinne and Dubnyk.
Now, I'm not saying Mason should win the Vezina, but to not even be mentioned among the top 9? Ridiculous |

So Morin seems like he could use more time to get up to the speed of the NHL, how's that? - Marc D
i think he's got a shot to step in next year, but that's my biased, driving the morin with crimsoninja riding shotgun and controlling the radio bus. iow, i'm a big fan. |

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought. When they had a need he never even got a mention all season. I was hopeful of at least hearing his name by season's end. When I didn't I guessed that he hadn't progressed the way they'd hoped.
As much as I'd like to watch the Phantoms, those radio/in game broadcasts can try my patience. - mayorofangrytown
I know this isn't what anyone is saying about him, but I just want to add that he just turned 20 in February while playing his first full year in North America. Patience will probably work best with Hagg, maybe even more so than some other players who have been on this side of the pond for their whole lives.
If he turns in to a plug him in and forget him type of 4/5 then I think we have a pretty good dman. Maybe he will never show the fire to be that stud, but then again, maybe it is his mentality and makeup to just be a solid, "do your job and don't hurt the team" type player.
In other words, a good Robin to one of our future Batmen.

everything relative taken into consideration and put into context, i would rank mason's year over at least 5 of the respective seasons of the guys on that list.

i pay an annual fee to usa hockey which includes insurance. we don't participate in the nationals thing. i've never been in an adult league that does. i know NFG does on her women's team.
we're going up to colorado in 2 weeks for a tournament. fund raiser. that's enough for me.
we'd get killed in a nationals tournament anyway with the D i have. i need to be better, but still...when you have no reliable play in front of you, you start over thinking, and guessing....not good for anybody. - hammarby31
when I played women's Sr B I participated 4 times. Aston PA (2003), Buffalo (2006), San Jose (2007) and West Chester (2008). and I've done the 30 and over nationals in Tampa twice but I don't count that so much. Its just a glorified tournament. |

Okay, I'm getting way too infuriated over these delusional ideas of Jesus Del Zotto, so I'm just gonna go and say that giving this guy more than 2 years at more than $2.5M, when the Flyers have the ability to tell him to have fun making $0 this year, is a terrible idea. Feel free to bookmark this for future wins. - jmatchett383

he is RFA, they can offer him a 1 yr qualifying deal and if he doesn't like his only option is to sit out for a year unless they trade him |
