Bellemare was the 3C this season and 7th in TOI amongst forwards. That's a not a role player, that's an important player.
Schultz faced the hardest competition and played the 2nd most minutes of any dman. That's not a role player. - Feanor
They're both role players. |

Which is my point. Why so quick to sign role players? - SuperSchennBros
Why would you wait? What reason would there be to not re-sign them?

And to help him do that, I'm going to give him the FNG we know needs surgery and was so bad last year his old team was considering buying him out, and this other dude, playing through a serious leg injury. |

Great comeback. By that logic every defender we have but Streit was a role player cause he was the only dman to play more than Schultz. |

An abundance of defensemen within our system. We don't have a number one stud but we also have young players with high upside. With having already 8 defenseman, I'm assuming things become more tricky. Also when I look at Giroux, Couturier, Laughton and Bellemare, I see a lot to be desired. How much better is Bellemare then Laughton should both see a full season? |

I just find it funny, Berube's hamstringing guys and then blaming them for not playing through it. This is exactly my issue with him as a head coach. Seems like a good assistant, but the people skills...oi |

Bellemare wasn't our 3rd line center until a number of regulars were hurt. Bellemare within the last month moved up, Cousins took over the fourth line duties with Rinaldo and White. Bellemare was the fourth line center for probably 90% of the season. Nick Schultz may have seen the second most, if not the most ice time on this defense, how is that not a problem? Why would you take what's happened this season and use it as a positive example for a disappointing season?
They're role players. Important players get us into the playoffs. |

That is the crazy part, to me
Lord knows I don't love Brayden Schenn, but FFS, it's been shown relatively consistently that if you give the guy two wingers who aren't ridiculous, there is production
I'm not saying he'd get 80 points, but how in the hell you drop bombs on the guy after giving him injured/ineffective linemates is beyond me

Im all for doing whatever has to be done to put Couturier in the best position to produce.
If it's only playing him with Jake and G.
If it's stacking lines to play with him.
If it's putting him on the rink every time their is a power play or an empty net.
If it's not putting him in a single defensive situation ever.
If it's never playing him with an injured player.
Whatever list people have of things that have to happen for Couturier to have a chance to excel I am all for giving it to him. Their is a perfectly good chance that he runs with that chance and their is a perfectly good chance he still struggles offensively.
Their is exactly 0% wrong with saying Sean Couturier is a really solid 3 line shut down center who isn't ready or may never be a second line point producing center. People can list all the stats they want justifying why he had a down year but the facts are that Couturier, Read and Schenn not producing were as much a reason for this teams failure as anything else.
Oh look , they both scored when the games didn't matter. Good on them, they can high five each other when they go fishing in a few days,. |

I would agree with that -- yeah, it could happen later, but let's be honest: If you don't know by then, what don't you know?
