I guess. But leaving millions on the table? I mean I'm sure he's made enough at this point, but it would be a very tough family decision to just walk away like that. - pbizz1e
He's not exactly hurting, Tampa Bay is paying him for the next 12 years, too |

True. Nobody else is going to pay him close to what he's getting from Ed. - Jsaquella
If Luongo didn't mutually terminate, after all he went through, and declaring that his contract sucks... it's hard to envision Vinny setting that precedent, even though he's unhappy. |

The union would burn him at the stake for it. - Tomahawk
Why should he be so afraid of the union for this, especially when he's in the last stages of your career. This isn't like the brick layers union where some lowlife scum bag is gonna break all of his car windows for crossing a picket line. It's about doing what's best for him and making himself as happy as can be. |

If he wanted to terminate the deal he could become a FA. A mutual termination would be awesome. - J35Bacher

Vinny Lecavalier confirms he can only be successful here in Philly if Craig Berube is no longer the coach. #FlyersTalk
 - LeftCoaster
The way Berube, Hextall, and Holmgren all spoke at the Town Hall, they agree with him. Now, what do they do about it? |

Luongo wasn't getting a paycheck from Florida in addition to the salary paid by the Canucks. |

Well, I'd offer to play for you if I were closer. I'm an adequate C-level skater, I can't handle the puck very well, but I can play positional D and can make a fairly okay pass. I'm kinda like Grossmann without the size. - jmatchett383
i'd take it. seriously. and this is A hockey - most of these guys can really play, but we're beyond suspect on D. i have one guy who's a great skater, great shot, busts his ass can stick handle out of trouble, but he coughs up the puck a bunch too when he tries to do too much sometimes. the rest have decent physical tools but seriously don't understand how to play to the position. the d pairings don't help one another much and the forwards are always cheating near the the blueline. it's a poop show. |

I was a good (REALLY GOOD) roller hockey player up until my mid-20's. Always played up for my age, mostly because I was able to outthink my opponents. Then, I tried to transition to ice and just couldn't do it. I never ice skated until about 24, and I just never was able to be remotely good. It was very frustrating. |

Both Vinny and Berube gone would be ideal, but if i had to choose one, I'd like to see Vinny go before Berube. |

i understand frustrating. i actually threw my stick after the game last night, and i haven't done that in a long time. i hate the other team we played...they always end up winning by a goal, and the goalie is a douche. i want to fight him. |

I say go for it next time. But do it Emery style, just charge down the ice out of seemingly nowhere and just have at him. |

Me too except for the Pens. I wish Washington could win this year if I was picking in the East. I'd pick Calgary in the West.
I'm not getting my hopes up. |

Money aside, the idea of being ostracized from your peer group is probably a pretty big deterrent. |

Why would the union not be cool with this? Also, didn't their reps allow for this to happen when they signed the CBA? |
